Who the heck is Jordan Nagai? [UPDATE]

The revealing yesterday of the voice cast of Up listed actors Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer, John Ratzenberger and Jordan Nagai as lending their voices to the film, which will be released to theatres on May 29, 2009.

There's one small problem with that last cast member: He or she doesn't exist, at least not according to the entire internet! There's no relevant mention of a "Jordan Nagai" anywhere on the web, including Google and IMDb, apart from the original news release from Disney which lists Nagai as a cast member, and websites such as this that quoted from the release.

At first I thought that this could just be a case of a typo, a mispelling of the intended actor's last name. But there's no actor with a convincingly similar last name anywhere on IMDb. A first time actor, perhaps?

Do you know who "Jordan Nagai" is? Please let me know.

I not really sure, but I think he is like his first time acting like Alexander Gould was.

Just because Jordan's name isn't on the Internet, it doesn't mean they don't exist at all. Thankfully, the Internet is not real life, only a part of it.

Jordan exists. Perhaps it's Jordan's first time... which is rather impressive.

Jordan Nagai's probably just a completely newcomer. Nicholas Bird, who was the voice of Squirt, in Finding Nemo didn't have any credits to his name until people knew he did the voice.

Calm down about him "not existing"... he's simply someone new to the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if he was related to one of the animators or something.

I think Jordan Nagai must be the voice of the little kid in the movie. Nagai is a Japanese name, and the little kid looks Asian. Maybe the character is based off of the actor a little bit?

I know he exists, he has filmography and stuff. I just really wish there was a picture of him.

I think he is a new actor. I'm close to someone who works at Pixar and I remember a few years back when they were working on this film, my friend had told me the storyline and that they were looking for an Asian American child to play the part. He had asked me because of my ties to the Korean American community, definitely not the acting community. I haven't talked to him recently about it, maybe I should. But yeah, definitely not being on the internet does NOT mean you don't exist. :)

The Jordan Naggai supplies for the voice for the young boy-scout character, Russell.

Clearly, he's just a new young kid actor, so it's not surprising that there is no information about him as yet.

Jordan is a real boy 9 years old and his father is my dentist.
His father said to me yesterday that the director was so kind to his son and coached him so he is believable as just what he is. An Asian boy who really is kind of shy and wants to go to college.
I said to his dad, I hope his son does not get a big head, and the reply to me was, do not worry.
He's just a regular guy.
His father is really good looking, so I have to assume that Jordan is too.

Since this post was originally published, we've found out the identity of Jordan Nagai. Thank you all for your comments.

Skiierdon: So his dad is a dentist? What else can you tell me?

Jordan Nagai is the younger brother of one of the 400 kids that auditioned to be Russell's voice actor. The older brother brought him along, and although Jordan had no intention of auditioning, the judges noticed him and took him for the role. Look at Wiki.

Here's is an excerpt from wikipedia that might clear some of your questions.

"Jordan Nagai as Russell, the boy scout stowaway on Carl's flying house.[2] He accompanies Carl in order to earn his "assisting the elderly" badge: the only one he doesn't have.[5] Docter auditioned 400 boys in a nationwide casting call for the part.[6] Nagai showed up to an audition with his brother, who was actually the one auditioning. However, Docter, who had passed on other potential voices that sounded too artificial, realized Nagai behaved and spoke non-stop like Russell and chose him for the part.[7] Nagai was seven years old when cast."

it IS wikipedia, though

You are all wrong. Jordan Nagai is the brother of another actor (who is I can't identify cuz i don't know.) Jordan's brother was the one who auditioned, and when he was done, they asked Jordan to talk a little bit. They love in love with his young voice and casted him over his actor brother....OUCH!

You might've gotten Pixar and Dreamworks mixed up. Pixar is the one that scopes out real talent to star in their movies. Dreamworks is the one that relies on big celebrity names for box office hits.
