Pixar comic books coming [UPDATE]

In an unprecedented announcement tied to San Diego Comic-Con (which runs through Sunday), Disney Publishing Worldwide and BOOM! Studios revealed this morning that a line of comic books based on characters from Pixar's Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, Cars, WALL-E, and most exciting of all, The Incredibles, will be produced starting at the end of this year.

A preview book (cover pictured) will be available at the BOOM! Studios Comic-Con booth for $5.

Update: The Disney Snowglobes blog has some plot details regarding the first series of Incredibles comics. The series will should span "about four issues" and will deal with "Mr. Incredible slowly losing his powers and trying to keep [the] secret from his family."

This sounds very exciting, but I hope they don't dumb these comics down for kids, because that's contradicting Pixar's philosophy...

I was going to say the exact same thing. Because I'm not generally a fan of comics, but if these are well done then I think I'll enjoy 'em. So I really hope they are.
