Fellow Pixar geek Peter Sciretta of /Film posted this morning a video of a lovely motorized Luxo Jr. desk toy (pictured above) he bought at the employees-and-visitors-only company store inside Pixar's Emeryville campus. Not too many details are available on the item, except that it cost $40 and is manufactured by Thinkway Toys, Pixar's favourite toy maker.Sciretta wonders whether the toy might become available for sale at one of the gift shops open to the public at the "Pixar Studios" area of Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida, or perhaps even at regular, run-of-the-mill Disney Stores.
None of the above is likely to happen. Nearly all stuff emblazoned with the Pixar logo (such as shirts, hats, whatever) is not sold anywhere but the company store, which is, as previously mentioned, solely for employees and folks fortunate enough to visit the studios. Also, as cool as this toy is, it doesn't appear to be a newly-released product; the materials and colors used don't seem like what would be used these days.

Can anyone visit Pixar Animation Studios? Or do is a, you kinda have to know someone. I was at Disney World last week and I was super excited for the new Toy Story Midway Mania ride. There was a small gift shop across from the ride with some Pixar mechandise. I bought a green/blue sweatshirt (small Pixar log on the front and larger one on the back), a black t-shirt with the Luxo logo, and a black hat with Pixar on the front in black and Animation Studios on the back in black.
But I would SOOO love one of those toys :)
You definitely have to know someone...
This item has been out for about 2 years, or slightly less. There is a bunch of "studio store exclusive" merchandise available, and much of it is in "retro" packaging like this.. lots 'o fun..
i'd buy it
That would be awesome on my desk. Even cooler if my desk were in the pixar studios.
I'm a Pixar Super fan and i'm italian. What is the cost of this gadget?
Please tell me the prize
