Jobs, Lasseter on Newsweek list

Pixar co-founder Steve Jobs and chief creative officer John Lasseter are ranked 34 and 35 respectively on Newsweek magazine's year-end compendium of the most influential people on the planet The Newsweek 50: The Global Elite, published today online and appearing in print in the latest issue.

Question: Who would have believed 20 years ago that Lasseter or anybody else from the studio would be on a list of "global elite", back when Pixar was only a "sad little company", as journalist Dan Lyons puts it in his piece on Jobs, "trying (and mostly failing) to sell specialized, high-end graphics computers"?

Uh, Newsweek better get its story straight. It keeps saying in its article on John Lasseter that Bolt is a Pixar film. IT'S NOT! IT'S NOT! IT'S NOT! How can they not know this? I hate stupid mistakes. But oh well, I can't complain too much about any article praising John Lasseter.

I think that it was the fact that the Bolt trailer was put before WALL•E, instead of the UP trailer. Usually the next PIXAR release's trailer is put before that year's PIXAR release.

This caused confusion I'm sure, with more than a few people, because then, when the UP trailer was finally released, it was with Bolt instead.

This was no doubt, because the UP trailer was either not finished yet by WALL•E, and/or so that it could be played in Real D Digital, where it looked absolutely amazing. But still, for people who do not follow PIXAR closely, they will assume that Bolt is PIXAR.

"After "Up," Pixar will release "The Princess and the Frog," using traditional hand-drawn animation from Disney. "

Maybe the fact that John Lasseter works for both companies is a little TOO confusing for them!
