The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) just recognized WALL-E as the Best Picture of the year, the first time in the association's 33-year history that the honour has gone to an animated film. The Achievement Awards will be presented next January 12 at LAFCA's annual dinner.
My expectations for the Golden Globes (noms to be announced Thurs. morning) have just been raised...

This is so many kinds of excellent. The last four LAFCA winners ("Sideways", "Brokeback Mountain", "Letters from Iwo Jima", and "There Will Be Blood") went on to be Best Picture nominees and major threats at the Academy Awards.
Here's to hoping that the Academy won't discriminate against "WALL-E" for being animated.
Wonderful!
interesting...
Utterly deserved.
Ditto what Good Dog said. These are the kind of honors WALL-E deserves, and which I'm *very* happy to see keep coming and coming. All of the "animated movies aren't as good as live action because they're for kids" people will be eating their words before long, although they should be doing so already.
