Hey, just have to ask, is it true that Michael Giacchino will be handling the orchestra on the 81st Academy Awards?

Yes, he is conducting the live orchestra for the show.

The Academy press release is here: http://www.oscars.org/press/pressreleases/2008/08.11.17.html

Michael Giacchino's awesome and deserves a lot more acknowledgement as a composer. I'm really excited that he's doing the music for Up. Thomas Newman is an incredible composer too.

Thanks for the confirmation! Michael Giacchino is my favorite!

I am crossing my fingers. Of course Wall-E is the best film of the year but it would be great if the Oscars would recognize it as such. So many others have.
