would absolutely be thrilled to see 50 min. of the film as soon as the end of the week. w/ that said, i hope i hear what people thought, whether good or bad. may 29th can't come soon enough.
I can't imagine why anyone not involved with the production would want to sit down and watch the first half of the movie only to then have to wait four months to see it again, followed by the rest of the movie.
I'd love to go to the panel discussion, but I would skip this screening even if someone handed me tickets.
I'm surprised. I could imagine 15 minutes to whet appetites, but 50 minutes it half the film!
People will want the rest and will have to wait. Good for hype. Bad for people trying to avoid media and spoilers like me.
Doesn't this go against the whole we spent 4 years making this movie to surprise and delight you, and we want to keep it under wraps to make our efforts not in vain.
So here's half the film and you don't get to see the rest for another half a year.
Akward.
Will you be there Mike?
I wish! But I'm way too busy.
am i the only one here who believes seeing half of the movie would be such a delight?! i don't mind if i have to wait to see the other half. the way i see it, seeing everything i can on the film as soon as i can will prove to only be truly exciting (as long as the film itself is exciting in the first place!).
when i look back, i'll still appreciate/not appreciate it as a complete film. not 2 halves. seeing half the film months prior to release(or reading/watching anything i can on it as it becomes available) will spoil nothing for me.
i've grown accustomed to "spoilers" b/c it seems one believes he/she is "spoiled" if he/she found out in a different way/shape/form than experiencing the film for the first time. me? i find out when i find out & that's fine b/c it's part of the entire film experience for me. i don't need to sit there & find out what's going on for the first time as i watch it the first time. if the film is potent enough, it will still work regardless if i found out something beforehand. i suppose i'm in the minority on this one, & that's fine.
i suppose, & i could be wrong, ones who care about being "spoiled" worship film-watching in a way i'll never understand. &, if thats the case, that's fine too. =)
Yeah it's half the film already, IDK why they do that, I remember it started with Ratatouille to show parts of the unfinished films not only with private screenings but big events too.
Esp. if this is complete (unlike last screening with unfinished scenes and temp OST etc) I don't want it to be leaked or have mixed early buzz...
30 mins is like enough, or 10, like Ratatouille.
Brice_J: "Am I the only one here who believes seeing half of the movie would be such a delight?!"
No.
lol that's funny. hoped i wasn't =)
If they are showing 50 min. of it, then it's not going to just be 90-100 min. Up is likely going to be about 2 hours. At the end of the 50 min. they're probably barely even into the jungle. The footage will probably end with a shot of them pulling back trees and looking out over the Tepui mountains for the first time.
Anonymous #11, I hope you're joking. No one would go see a 2-hour animated film these days. They have to be short and sweet, 95-105 is enough.
Besides, if they have enough materials to make it 2 hours then they should SHOW US MORE NOW!!! The clips we've seen until now barely go into the jungle.
I also would love to see 50 minutes of 'UP' even if I cant see the rest for months. It would be awesome. ANd then I could tell people that I saw half the movie. I cant understand why they are showing so much. I hope I get to see the screening and then I could meet Pete Docter, right?
I am not joking at all. I actually hope it is about 2 hours. The Incredibles is 1 hour, 55 minutes, Cars is 1 hour, 56 minutes and Ratatouille is 1 hour, 51 minutes. I cannot see a filmmaker showing half their movie less than four months to it's premiere. From what I have heard Up will have adventure, comedy and drama and deals with issues such as love, loss and life. Up could have some more mature elements, as well as an Indiana Jones style adventure, in which case they might need about 2 hours to properly tell their story.
You do realize that A Bug's Life, The Incredibles, Cars, and Ratatouille were all very close to 2 hours, right?
People will sit through something if it engages them.
Cinematical is reporting a running time of "a little over 87 minutes".
Looks like I was way off. I guess Pixar is returning to shorter running times. I just hope it doesn't feel rushed.
