Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3-D double feature

The 3-D re-releases of Pixar's Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will be presented together as a special double feature during a two-week limited engagement run starting October 2 this year, it was revealed one hour ago by The Walt Disney Studios at the ShoWest movie industry trade convention in Las Vegas.

Audiences will get to enjoy both films back to back, for the price of a single ticket. This replaces the previous schedule which had Toy Story 2 debuting in 3-D on February 12, 2010. Instead, Disney's Beauty and the Beast will be re-released in 3-D on that date.

Says John Lasseter in the official press release: "To see the movies back to back will be an amazing treat as well. This is certainly nostalgic for me and reminiscent of my youth when double features were the norm."

Uh, this is so cool! Going to the movies should be an experience. And we won't have to wait until next February to watch 'TS2' in 3-D! Just hope Disney and theatres know how to market this properly.

this is awesome! i've also heard the trailer (teaser?) for toy story 3 is supposed to be playing in front of the double-feature! how much cooler would this already awesome news become if that's true?

This is great. The whole family will be there.

I didn't get to see either TS1 or TS2 in theaters on their original run. And now a double feature in 3D? Whoever made that decision needs a raise. I AM SO THERE.

That's Cool,I will be there. I wonder, if there IS a monsters inc 2, do you guys think they will 3-D Re-Release Monsters 1?

That's exciting!
I was thinking most people would probably not pay over $10 to go see a movie that came out years ago again, and especially not do that twice. This way, probably a lot more people will be willing to go.

Anonymous #1: Yeah, I'm in fabulous LAS VEGAS, NEVADA! Not.

I was so bummed when I thought I had to wait til next year for Toy Story 2, as its my fav movie of all time. Now to find out I wont have to, and can see both back to back is just, wow. the only way this could get better is if they bumped up Toy Story 3 to make this a tripple feature.

I'm also looking forward to Beauty and the Beast in feb, even if I'm not so sure it'll work, being hand drawn and all. the fact that I missed its original theatrical run is enough to excite me.

Anyway, cant wait til October.

Nevermind my last comment, you don't even have to approve of it if you don't want. this news is too wide spread to be a joke, not to mention it was posted several hours before midnight. I believe now. you gotta admit thought its kinda sucky timing to announce anything big that close to April Fools, heh.

Is no one going to comment on the Shrek wearing an "I Love Pixar" shirt? :)

What Shrek???

Mike said...

It's gone now!

Anonymous said...

too bad it's gone. Shrek is my favorite Pixar character...

Anonymous said...

Why did you take it away?

Anonymous #4: You're just trying to get on my nerves, aren't you?

That was for April Fool's wasn't it?

Anonymous #4 said...

hmmm... not exactly... Shrek is GREAT, but in all reality, i am a bit of a late April Fool!

Do we know yet what the budget for Up is?

PixarFanatic said...

Simon: I don't think we'll be able to find out until the pre-screening of Up comes out--or maybe not even until the movie has come out.

Anonymous #4: Very funny joke. (No sarcasm there.)

PixarFanatic said...

As for the marketing, if I had to guess, they'll have trailers for it with "Up" and Jerry Bruckheimer's "G-Force."

But it's possible they might just market it by TV.

slow news week?

Mike said...

Indeed.

I know you hate slow news weeks--I hate 'em too!

Upcoming Pixar has had some stuff lately, but not much...

yeah, i seen shrek wearing the "i (heart) pixar" shirt! it made me wonder which of the pixar films he'd enjoy the most haha!

First of all, I must thank you Mike, for finally recognizing the second Pixar, (DreamWorks) on your blog. Now to answer which of the #1 Pixar's movies I like best... (I know, a hard question, isn't it?)

Brice_J - I enjoy them all, but I must say the classics like Toy Story will always be the ones that I think about the most - can't wait to see them in 3-D!!! (There is an advantage to being popular now, [in most crowds anyways], since before they wouldn't let an ogre into a theater...). So, I look forward to the re-releases this Fall, but other than that, I must say that I am really anticipating The Bear and the Bow, considering that it is about Scotland, and I have me Scottish accent and all!

On an ending note, I hope none of you will mind me being on this site, but someone has to report the Pixar news back to DreamWorks!

well, i guess i don't have to wonder anymore! thanks shrek, i'm sorta surprised you enjoyed them all, considering there are some "sidekick" characters like donkey who i would've guessed annoyed you to no end.. such as dory & mater, but i suppose pixar is just better @ creating characters who are within the fine line between "intriguing & annoying!"

That they are... that they are. And in case you're wondering, I've kind of gotten used to Donkey somewhat by now. He's still an ass, but he wasn't much better as a stallion...

Hey Simon, me again. Upcoming Pixar reports that the budget is 175 million. Pretty good, but WALL-E did better...

Brice_J said...

lol this shrek thing is kinda fun! it does make me wonder even more about superfluous details such as how big your keyboard must be to suit your huge fingers, or how you find time between triplets & a wife to answer my questions, but i think those questions can go unanswered! so thanks again, shrek... hope your next adventure is more entertaining to watch than the last 2! =)

I figure I'll answer. (It's fun being a celebrity!) I 'write' these comments using voice to type recognition software. If I don't, it looks like this: ajskddd aaiopre aieorpt8eb irths dk, and then I usually smash the computer table in frustration. Then, I have to buy a new one, so that Fiona doesn't find out, and the old one becomes firewood. Anyway, that's becoming off topic. To answer the rest of your questions, as you can see, my comments are usually late, once the kids are in bed. Fiona doesn't mind, as it's our job to keep DreamWorks up to date. I get the information, and she transfers it to them. It's fun!

You hope my next adventure will be even more entertaining then the last two? ME TOO!!! I think that they should do a whole movie about me fly-fishing...

Toy Story 3d would indeed be worth the wait! Seeing the characters appear like Nemo and other Disney Pixar films are cute to watch and full of lessons! Not to mention, kids love it, the adults watch it too.

Beauty and the Beast in 3-D? Seriously? Not that I have anything against it, (I'm 16 and I still like Beauty and the Beast! *HEE! HEE! HEE!*) but I don't remember anything in the movie that "popped out," or that made me think, "Wow! That would look awesome in 3-D!" But then again, I haven't seen the movie since I was maybe 8 or 9, so if there was anything that "popped out" in the movie, I wouldn't remember.
