'Up' Friday box office: $21.4 million

According to Variety and Box Office Mojo, Up raked in an estimated $21.4 million dollars on its opening day yesterday, slightly below WALL-E's Friday earnings of $23.2 million last June.

This opening, Walt Disney Pictures' second best ever for an animated feature (after WALL-E), puts the film on track for a nearly guaranteed No. 1 spot at the North American box office over the weekend and a good shot at matching or surpassing WALL-E's $63.1 million opening weekend.

Up is currently playing at 3,766 theatres across the U.S. and Canada (1,530 in 3-D).

I'm telling ya, it won't surpass just WALL-E's opening weekend, it's gonna surpass The Incredibles as well! I had thought that it might actually make a 100M opening, but it can still get past The Incredibles!!

Awesome, does any one know how this compares to the M-vs-A opening?

Box Office Mojo's article said that it will probably get 65 M opening, but they still said it could soar well over 70 M.

I wonder if they will release a 3D - 2D comparison!
We saw it in 2D and there were only 40 - 60 people in the theatre at 7pm Show! :(
Still Great movie!
