As part of a wider strategy of reaching out to fans online, Disney/Pixar has put together a series of video blogs featuring John Lasseter answering questions posed by Pixar fans on Facebook and Twitter. The first answers the question of why the beginning of Up is so serious and emotional.

I like these types of videos, because it helps you to feel like you know these Pixar people personally. Of course, most of the "getting to know them" happens in the DVD bonus features. That's how I know what Pixar looks like inside.

well.. it's like I knew!
He was leaving Comic-Con. I was there at his panel. He is a really good speaker. I can't wait to see what else pixar has in store for the future animated projects they have going on.
