Toy Story/Toy Story 2 in 3-D trailer with G-Force

Briefly: /Film is reporting that the first (and possibly only) trailer for the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3-D double feature is attached to Walt Disney Pictures' talking guinea pig movie G-Force, opening in theatres this Friday.

A short description of the trailer submitted by a reader can be found on the page.

Wow, thats a lot sooner then I was expecting. I love the picture you chose, it has a very 3D look to it.

I Love Pixar said...

So will you be reviewing G-Force?

Mike said...

No!

I Love Pixar said...

Do you want to see G-Force? : )

PixarFanatic said...

I certainly will be. Do you not like G-Force? It looks great.

By the way, in a March post, I had guessed that a trailer WOULD be with G-Force. I was right!!

Crap, Im dying to see this trailer, but theres No way Id subject myself to G-force. I wonder if I can figure out a way to sneak in...

I can bring my own glasses.

Come on Mike, Don't you want to pay 10 bucks to see a movie about talking guinea pigs in the FBI.
I guess if your rich seeing the TS trailer in 3D on a big screen might be worth it.

Kyle said...

Hmmm, you know what, I think I'll just simply ask if I can see just the trailer for free. I mean, its just advertising, am I right?

The manager seemed nice enough the last time I talked to her. (had to get her to fix the misaligned projector when I saw UP)

Ummm.. yeah can't say I'd want to watch it as well! There was a great Brad Bird article (or podcast) on this site somewhere that had his thoughts on people not going to the cinema and how the industry thinks 3D is the way forward. He said something really cool about the collective experience of movies, hence why he loved the cinema and why it would be better than watching at home but he also made the point that people want good stories, 3D wont make the industry thrive. Same thing Lasseter has said in the past :)

I.e. Making a movies in 3D wont save the industry. If it is a crappy story, it will be crap.

Man, I'm just so excited to see these movies again, even if I HAVE seen them a million times in my childhood. Who cares? It's good for notoriety!

You don't need to worry if you got tickets to the screening of G-Force and didn't go. The people who won contests weren't treated to the new Toy Story trailers! :(

(At least in Toronto)

But, this being said, G-Force is totally AWESOME!!!

As much as I want to see the 3-D trailer for the Toy Story double feature, I could never let myself be subjected the mess that is G-Force. I guess I'll have to just wait a little longer...*exasperated sigh*

You know i'll probably just try to ask them to let see the trailer and monitor me so i don't stay.

I don't understand. What are you idiot's problems? "I Love Pixar" and Anonymous #1 are the only ones interested in G-Force besides me. It is one of the most humorous films this year--even it does end up having a somewhat dumb plot--just like Monsters vs. Aliens.

G-Force really is quite cool... You might be surprised...

While I'm not crazy about seeing G-Force...
I'm actually hoping it does well - if for nothing else, than because I don't want Digital 3D to look bad. Why else would Disney be spending so much on advertising if they didn't think it was good? The actors (at least Tracy Morgan was pushing it on David Letterman) seem to like it, other celebrities are promoting it.

What if it isn't all that bad? Talking animals ≠ bad movie.

I've seen enough of G-Force watching its trailers waiting for Monsters, Up, Ice Age to start. Can't say I'm impressed and have no desire to see this movie. Talking animal movies are always a bust and this one looks no different, it actually annoyed me. These kinds of movies and comedies today try way too hard to be entertaining and funny. A good show entertains naturally without being so obvious.

Its...just not. Its kid pandering fluff powered by fart jokes and gross out gags.

One trailer is all I needed to figure that out. and reviews on RT confirm this.

I have to get my dad to take me to this when it comes out. Unfortunately, however, the closest theater that supports 3D is 90 minutes away.

Mike, you need to post about the LEGO Toy Story Sets appearing at Comic Con. I'm a little iffy about the mini-figures, but the actual sets look great.

In addition to the Lego sets, the new thinkway "Toy Story Collection" line has been revealed. they arent just toys, but replicas basically, made with digital data from the original models.

The trailers do not do G-Force justice. It has surprisingly few childish jokes.

The action is great, fast-paced and fun, and the animation is so seemlessly rendered with the live action that it is not jarring in any way.

Also, the voice cast does an impeccable job in allowing these (talking) animals to seem more 'real'. As well, they cannot open their mouths and speak to humans - only to each other. They must use their special microphones that allow them to communicate with humans.

Is this whole premise a fantasy? Yes, it is. But up there on screen it is a whole lot of fun - especially in 3D!

Oh, and Mike, apparently as of July 28th, you will be able to watch the double bill trailer here: http://disney.go.com/toystory/

Not in 3D, of course...

Lowest-rated Pixar film on Rotten Tomatoes: Cars, at 75%.

G-Force, as of today: 20%.

The prosecution rests.

Anonymous said...

Just because 80% of critics don't like it, doesn't mean 80% of other people won't like it.

I still stand by saying that it is a whole lot of fun! Silly, yes, but FUN! : )

Anonymous said...

To each his own. :)

PixarFanatic said...

Ouch. That hurts. The critics hate it as much as Transformers 2! But that doesn't mean it didn't do well. G-Force was #1 on Friday.

Anonymous said...

What about you, PixarFanatic? Did you see G-Force yet? If so, what did you think about it?

PixarFanatic said...

Anonymous #9:

I liked G-Force. It's the only good movie Disney has made so far this year besides Up, of course. Actually, Race to Witch Mountain was OK--it had fabulous special effects and action...

Apparently, it beat Harry Potter 6 this weekend with 31 million. And Blue Sky Disney is not so happy about that.

Me, I am. I'm not so happy about Harry Potter 6's big run because it's chunking up too much of the box office. And with Up having a slow foreign box office run like it is...
