First double feature reviews

The folks at Film School Rejects, /Film, and Upcoming Pixar have already seen the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3-D double feature and have published their reviews, naturally very positive. I, on the other hand, have not. Not. Not, not, not, not. Right now, I'm like an envious Jeffrey Katzenberg every time Pixar wins another Oscar.

The advance screening here in Toronto was yesterday but at an insane time and location (at least for me). So I'll be seeing it when it opens in theatres like all/most of you.

Question: Are you as excited as I am?

Excited? Excited doesn't begin to describe it.

I saw it yesterday in Toronto! It was amazing! They had three guys dressed like the green army men, with their faces painted green. As for the movie, it was awesome! The 3D is spectacular. Just a heads up, though. Make sure you use the bathroom before it starts, because during the intermission they played Toy Story treats and trivia. So don't get a 2 liter drink if you want to make it through the whole 3-hour show.

I hope you can make it to the first showing on Friday, Mike. I look forward to hearing what you think!

WTF THERE WAS A T.O. SCREENING!?!?!?!? NOT FAIR!!!

Leirin said...

Like what the first Anonymous said, excited can't even describe how pumped up I am for this. Like A Bug's Life (and many classic Disney movies), the Toy Story films were a big part of my childhood, and seeing them on a big screen once again is truly spectacular. I can't wait to see this, I've been counting down the days and everything.

Time to experience a succulent dish I call "nostalgia"...

Going during the credits of the first one might be a good idea then... Too bad that means missing hearing the great music. It's better than missing new stuff though.

Of course. I'm going to see if I can spot the differences, and be specific about it, since no one really seems to be able to so far. I want to see if I can actually point to a new texture on Sid's window sill or what have you.

I plan to see it twice, once on opening night and again on its last. One to just sit back and enjoy it, the other to be more nit picky with it. will probably end up doing both at each at different times though.

Yeah i'm excited but i'm also scared...
Will this double feature be out in Europe?
More precisely.. France ?
Hav'nt seen any ads here : (

I want to see it too. I wonder how much it would gross in just two weeks.

If it could have as big a run as Up has, it could get 187 M.

@wr: There was a screening of TS/TS 2 Double-Bill in Toronto, but you could only get tickets through a contest, or if you were press.

Another thing I forgot to mention in my first post, I'm the second Anon., is the trailer for TS 3. It really whets your appetite for next June 18th. Don't come late, you don't want to miss it.

to Anonymous: There is some "new stuff" in the credits, namely, the names of the team that made it in 3D...(but, I understand if you need to use the restroom). And Kyle: Good luck spotting any differences!

Hey Mike, sorry for going off-topic, but what's your favorite Disney classic? Personally, I'm pretty attached to Dumbo and Pinocchio.

Some of us have to wait until April!

I have a question for anyone who's seen it, are the bloopers still in tact for Toy Story 2? If so, are they in 3d, or left as is?

And are there any new ones? I think it would be great to see them do some new ones for the first toy story, but I'm not really expected it.

So when are we going to get this new Toy Story 3 trailer? I won't be able to sleep soundly at night until I've watched it at least ten times.

Anonymous said...

@Kyle: Yes the bloopers are still in tact for TS2. I'm pretty sure they were in 3D, though I didn't notice any new ones. No, there aren't any bloopers on TS.

Anonymous said...

@Kyle: The bloopers, like during the end credits? Yes, they were there. I think they were in 3D... like the rest of the movie... The thing is, that the 3D is not really distracting, so most of the time, you only notice it subconsciously - at least that's how I felt about it.

^^ To the guy in France, I hear your worry. I;ve been hoping they were going to be a double feature in the UK, but they are being released seperately here.
I don;t think it looks good for international audiences. I guess we're all going to get them as seperate movies.

Toy Story in 3D next week.
Toy Story 2 4D in January.

Off topic, but Mike? Will you be reviewing the Snow White DVD on the Disney Blog?

Hey Mike!

Billy Crystal was on the Jay Leno show last night.

When he was asked if he'd ever regretted turning down a movie, he answered Toy Story. He got "ooehd" by the audience and Jay called him an idiot! XD

BLu-Ray? Anyone know when TS & TS2 will be released on BD?

Mike said...

Spring next year, 90%.

Anonymous said...

Although maybe not until next November with TS3...

Kyle said...

They wouldn't release them so close to each other, spring is more likely. They want to keep the franchise on the public's mind year round, not throw it all at us at once. They'll be pacing themselves better this way. You'll have people talking about the double feature that's out now, and all the new toys and merch for the rest of the year, and going into the 2010, then blu ray releases (not sure if they'll released them both at once or one at a time), then probably more toys, then toy story 2 if they havnt already, then the video games, Then Toy Story 3.
