Toy Story Collection: Sheriff Woody

As if you needed any more reason to envy me for all the cool Pixar stuff I get, this morning the UPS guy delivered a rather large package having come direct from Disney Consumer Products in Glendale, California. Inside, Sheriff Woody from the new Toy Story Collection (and see here) that's been making a lot of news lately.

Made by Thinkway Toys, the deluxe 16″ Woody toy (with stand) is as close to an exact replica of the character from the Toy Story films as possible, produced directly from Pixar's original data files.

As John Lasseter has pointed out, the quality really is superb; the fabric and stitching on Woody's clothing especially stands out. You'll be surprised at the detail when you open the package. The pictures you've seen online simply can't convey that.

The voice recognition feature also works pretty well, but the pull-string is so much more fun for some reason! About that, Woody says a total of fifty different phrases in two different modes.

Honestly, major fun to play with, even if you're an adult. Doctors should hand these out as antidepressants.

All the toys from the Toy Story Collection (including Buzz, RC, and Rex) are now shipping from the Disney Store online and will be in brick-and-morter stores soon.

Questions? Comments?

Wait, is that a photo of the doll actually inside your house? Because if it is, I wish I had that wallpaper.

I wish so too!

It would be better if they had his closed mouth smile, but overall I love it.

And guys, that's not his house, lol. It's from the official site.

I just got my Woody yesterday! Mike is correct that this is the best Woody doll I have ever seen! Right down to his hand stitched polyvynal hat! The pull string IS fun, but I like the interactive mode better. It feels like I am talking to Woody. He turned a 40 year old IT guy into a ten year old again! Funny story: My teenage nephew comes home late as usual and tries to tiptoe into my office where I have Woody on my desk to use my setup. He must of made just enough noise to activate Woody Because from the bedroom I hear “Reach for the skyyyyy!” and much fumbling around from supposedly sneaky teen. Hope Woody scared the little bugger good!

Thanks Woody!

But is it Tom Hanks's voice? I suspect not. Though I believe Tim Allen does provide the Buzz Lightyear toy's voice.

So Mike? Will you also be getting a Buzz Lightyear?

And does Woody's hat come off?

I saw the Buzz Lightyear one at Target a couple weeks ago for $50 in San Diego

This is off-topic, but for those of you who do not know the scoring people for Cars 2, The Bear and the Bow, and Newt, here they are, straight from Wikipedia!

Cars 2: Randy Newman (not very good news, having heard the latest news about it being a spy thriller)

The Bear and the Bow: Thomas Newman (EXCELLENT! My favorite Pixar composer--though I was thinking a new guy would appear here.)

Newt: Michael Gicchaino (NOOOOO--a while ago, JD said T. Newman would do great on this. I agreed wholeheartedly. I would've expected him to do the Bear and the Bow, personally, judging its plot.)

Yes Woody's hat comes off! It is perfect. Also, The Definitive Collection Buzz does not come out until October 6. I have pre-paid for it from Disney. It is just under $70.

Joseph, Buzz is out, I have it sitting right next me. The Disney store site just hasn't shipped them yet apparently for whatever reason. and 70 is a rip off, its 50 or under in retail stores, as with Woody.

So Mike? When did you find out that you would be receiving a Woody? How long did he take to arrive?

Hi guys. for the last month I've been doing alot of research and I've found alot of info.

Wave 2 will be coming out near Black Friday, and it will contain:
Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl
Mr.Potato Head
Hamm the Piggybank
and
Slinky Dog.

Mr.Potato Head has been delayed to wave 2 because he did have malfuncions with his talking features. They could of had trouble with Hasbro. But I hope it was because they where separating his joint eyes.
