'TS3' trailer exclusive to theatres for two weeks

Lee Unkrich revealed on Twitter a few hours ago that the much-talked-about new Toy Story 3 trailer attached to the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 3-D double feature will be exclusive to the double feature during its two-week theatrical run. That means it won't be online until October 16.

Great marketing strategy by Disney...

If that last comment was sarcastic, I totally agree.

No, it wasn't sarcastic at all. I think it's a very good stratagy. You don't think so?

Disney can promote the trailer as being exclusively in theatres with the double feature for the two weeks. More reason for people to turn out.

I agree! Great strategy! We need as many people as possible to see this once-in-a-lifetime double feature. (The one unique thing about it is the 3D. I'm sure hoping they include all of the new animations we've seen in the past two months plus the new animations from the intermission on the next Toy Story DVD/Blu-Ray release.)

Yeah, I've already heard a few people who have already seen the movies say "I'd go just for the Toy Story 3 trailer", so really, this is a good marketing strategy. It builds up my excitement even further, because after the amazing experience of seeing two nostalgically magical films on the big screen, I get to see something fresh and new (but familiar) straight afterwords. Love that contrast.

boohoo, this is a US-only double feature !

Let europe and the rest of the world have the trailers ! : )

People will sit through two films they've already had to sit through several times over a number of years in order to please their kids... and will be even more numerous to do so because of a 2-minute trailer?

Not sure about this one...

I've just got back from seeing Toy Story 3D in the UK and we had no trailer.

Did anyone else in the UK get the trailer?

Okay, Mike, if you put it that way, than I guess it is a good marketing strategy; however, that doesn't make me any less annoyed that I'm going to have to wait two more weeks for it to be released online, since I'm not going to be able to see the double-feature.

I guess it was inevitable, but the Toy Story 3 trailer was leaked online to YouTube (I'm not giving a link, for obvious reasons). Hopefully it'll get removed by the time this message is published.
