With only ten days left until Up arrives in stores on DVD and high-definition Blu-ray Disc on November 10, I received my advance copy of the 4-Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (box art pictured above) yesterday. Boy is it cool!Certainly, naturally, and of course, Up has everything you now expect of a Pixar DVD or Blu-ray release, like fantastic picture and sound, and solid bonus features. The packaging follows closely the pattern of the last few Pixar titles, but what I liked in particular are the simple, charming DVD/Blu-ray menus.
Though not thrilling on its own, the brand-new feature-based short Dug's Special Mission serves as a nice prequel to the "Hi there!" scene in Up where Dug encounters Carl and Russell for the first time.
Really standing out among the extras is the 22-minute-long documentary Adventure is Out There, it chronicles the now-famous research trip taken by the production team to the wilds of South America. Also noteworthy is "The Many Endings of Muntz", an interesting commentary on the various proposed alternate endings for the film's deranged villain.
Further details on the different editions available (1-Disc and 2-Disc DVD and 4-Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack), like what's included with each, can be found in this post. The 1-Disc DVD should be out of the question for most fans.
For Blu-ray enthusiasts such as myself, Blu-ray.com has a smart review of the Up Blu-ray published today, complete with all the technical stuff. The title receives an basically perfect 5/5 score.
Remember too that Pixar's other Pete Docter-directed masterpiece Monsters, Inc. is finally debuting on Blu-ray on Nov. 10 as well, in a special 4-Disc edition that includes a DVD and digital copy. It's unlikely I'll do a formal review since everything I've written here will surely apply.

Don't mean to be the grammer police, but I can't help but noticing in the second last paragraph before 'comments please' that you have written an basically. It reads better, and is more accurate without the n, making it just 'a'.
Two things:
Are you getting a copy of Monsters In.c on Blu, for review?
And did you take that picture at the top? If so, you've got an excellent camera!
Wow, looks like it has plenty of "Bells & Whistles". Thanks for the review!
Anonymous #2: Probably, and no.
I'll be buying it...
In the meantime, I must go watch Transformers 2 on DVD!
Seriously--it's not horrible--once you get to the interesting stuff. But they should've put it a little sooner, I'll admit. And the first WAS better, but I don't understand why so many critics are trashing it...
And it's not doing well on Apple anyway, The Proposal and Ice Age 3--both of which aren't that great--are hogging the set.
Thanks for the review! Could you tell me if the blu-ray is codefree (since I'm from Germany)...
"an" the indefinite article is used when preceeding a word beginning with a vowel. If the word begins with a consonant, the article "a" is used. The adverb basically requires the article "a", no exceptions.
This is grade 3 level stuff.
And grammer should be spelled grammar.
The blu-Ray is Region A coded. Only older Pixar catalog titles are region free
thanks

Hey "?", it was probably just a typo. Why is everyone attacking Mike for one little letter?!
Also... am I the only one who can't believe the DVD is already almost here? The excitement of seeing it in theatres is REALLY vivid to me... oh how time flies.
I wrote that quite quickly... yes, I did mean grammar.
This is driving me crazy, but what EXACTLY is on the DVD copy included with the Blu-Ray? Does it have the commentary track on it? I know that it has Adventure is Out There and The Many Endings of Muntz, but since Cine-Explore isn't possible on DVD I'm worried that they may have just omitted the commentary altogether from the DVD in the pack. It's gonna be the difference between the DVD and Blu-Ray purchase for me, since I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet.
For the standard DVD that comes with the blu-ray:
Does it include "Adventure is Out There" or is it just the movie?
I'm absolutely getting the 3 Disc DVD copy; I believe the whole point of DVDs is to have oodles of bonus features.
On a side note, is there still going to be a plastic case for the 1 Disc and 3 Disc versions of WALL•E, and when? I just about refuse to buy it until I can get it in a proper plastic case.
Anonymous #5: The standard DVD included in the Blu-ray combo pack does include "Adventure is Out There".
not attacking, just stating a fact... he has moderated comments, he doesn't have to upload what he doesn't want...
IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE, FOR UP HAS BROKEN THE RECORD OF THE INCREDIBLES AND RATATOUILLE!!!!
(645 M WORLDWIDE)
(Source: Wikipedia, due to the fact that Box Office Mojo does not show all of the foreign places, and it's had international hiatus lately.)
Hey Mike! Did'ja hear? ABC Family (channel 52 where I live) is going to be showing all of Pixar's short films as part of their "25 Days of Christmas" thing on December 2nd! You should post about that!
I saw this movie over the summer, and must say I was pleasantly surprised :) I enjoyed the animation (as i do ALL Pixar movies)However, I felt the plot was all over the place! I'm excited to read about the new features the DVD will have. Especially the alternate ending to the death of the movies protagonist! Looks like I might have to add this to my collection of 'Up' merchandise, which includes salt and pepper shakers :)
@ PixarFanatic - Hi. I couldn't find anything on the Wikipedia page for Up about it breaking 645 m. worldwide.
It still said 292 m. domestic and 212 m. foreign. Could you give me a link? Thanks in advance!
Anonymous #8 (and anyone else who's having trouble):
Don't look at the "Reception" part on the "Up" page on Wikipedia, where it's just like Box Office Mojo (506 M total.) Variety says it's 588 M.
However, go to the information part where the poster is--you know, where it shows "directed by," "produced by," "music by," blah blah blah. Among those is gross revenue. That amount is where you'll find your proof.
Oh, thanks PF, I didn't think to look there.
I'm still a little dubious as to whether that's 100% correct or not, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Well, rented the "Up" DVD to see if I liked it -- no subs or CC! Just a bunch of ads, the [for me unwatchable] movie, & no menus. Tics me off enough that Disney couldn't bother with CC/Subs for the hearing impaired -- I won't buy it (or anything else Disney) on principle.
