Docter working on secret 2013/14 project, not Monsters, Inc. 2

Speaking with New York magazine's Vulture blog, Up director Pete Docter casually mentioned that he is already hard at work directing his next, currently secret, feature at Pixar.
"I’m mostly focused on the next film that I have in development already. ...I just started. We finished Up, I took some time off, spent some time in Europe and Japan doing publicity over there, so I’ve only been on this for like a couple weeks," he says.
Asked whether the project is the long-rumoured sequel to Monsters, Inc., Docter replied:
"I'm not working on ... I'm working on something else, but I cannot announce what it is."
In answer to the next question he suggests a 2013/2014 release date, stating that "it generally takes at least four years, if not five" to complete a feature film at Pixar.

It goes without saying that this is really exciting news. I can't wait to find out what this new, previously unheard-of film is going to be about. But also exciting is the fact that Docter began his response by saying, "I'm not working on... [Monsters, Inc. 2]." (Italics mine.) If you ask me, that wording strongly suggests that somebody else at Pixar is working on it, like so much other evidence suggests.

Check out the complete interview here; it's an excellent read. Discussion highlights include the level of detail visible on the Up Blu-ray and the film's chances at the Oscars.

Isn't there one called Newt? Who's doing that one?

Ooooooh this is so exciting! I can't wait for Monsters Inc 2 and now i'm curious about this other film! Yay :)

Newt is being done by Gary Rydstrom, who is a sound designer, as well as the director of the 2006 short film Lifted.

Look at the exact quote again. Docter did NOT say that it wasn't Monsters, Inc. 2. He said it was something else. That's a very general set of words. What if "something else" is referring to the future Pixar films that have been already announced?

He might be working on "The Bear and the Bow" or "Newt" or something else we don't know about yet.

The Bear And The Bow is Brenda Chapman's I believe, and as I said above, Newt is Gary Rydstrom's.

We only have the slate to 2013-(2012?). What Pete Docter is working on would be most likely 2014, or 2015. Remember that when he said it takes about 4-5 years, he's just finishing the PR rounds for Up. Obviously it's better to count the years from 2010, since he wouldn't have been on it for the majority of this year.

Could this have something to do with the dinosaurs we saw in the Up B-Roll?
