New 'TS3' characters revealed: Ken and Peas-in-a-Pod

Ken and Peas-in-a-Pod, two new characters from Toy Story 3, had their public debut online this morning, at Ain't It Cool News and ComingSoon.net respectively.

Disney/Pixar began showing off the never-before-seen characters today in advance of the release of the final theatrical trailer for the film, which happens tomorrow. There will be fourteen new 'TS3' characters revealed in the coming weeks.

The Ken doll (voiced by Michael Keaton) we had heard about previously and is certain to be a humorous figure in the film. What is up with his clothes?! My guess is that the horrible daycare kids got to him. The extremely cute Peas-in-a-Pod, on the other hand, comes as a complete surprise.

ComingSoon.net shares the smart official description of 'Peas':

Peas-in-a-Pod will quickly become a parent’s favorite on-the-go toy. The soft, plush pod secures the happy peas inside with a durable metal zipper, making it perfect for the car or stroller.

The Peas-in-a-Pod plush toy also develops fine motor skills by catering to a child’s natural grab instinct. Pulling the three peas out of the pod will provide repeated enjoyment for infants and toddlers, and soon they’ll learn to put them back in!

Machine washable. Not for human consumption.
Going back to the banner, my guesses for three of the silhouettes yet to be filled in: Next to Woody and Ken stands a certain fuchsia-coloured stuffed bear; right under Buzz looks like a purple octopus; and obscuring the bottom-left corner of the Toy Story 3 logo appears to be a young (possibly cruel) human character.

Your guesses now, please.

The young human could be a baby doll.

On the right, there is the pink bear, a horse plush of some sort, a toy dinosaur, and (I think) a plastic toy telephone-car. And on the left, there is a little doll with lilac coloured hair with red hair elastics, another stuffed toy, an octopus, a train(?), a praying mantis near that child-looking shape, and to the left of that, a guitar(?), and another round thing that's obscured. I'll have to check the trailer, since I'm sure you could match all of the shapes from there, but that's what I have from memory.

Oh, and I forgot, of course in the middle is the hedgehog.

P.S. and I absolutely love the look of those 'peas in a pod'!

Sid??

My first guess was Sid, too, for the "cruel human character", but it's probably just a baby doll. In front of that is the green bug warrior figure, and in front of him is the blue triceratops.
There's a Bookworm towards the bottom left-hand corner, Mr. Pricklepants between Woody and Buzz, and one of those telephone toys in the right corner.

between buzz and woody is the mr pricklepants

Mr. Pricklepants is in the middle.

What if that kid shape isn't young? What if it's Sid, but he just kept his hair really short? What if that purple octopus is actually Pearl or or dad (squids, I believe)? That spiny thing on the right reminds me of something from Monsters, Inc.

I think those Peas-in-a-Pod will be manufactured in real life and become a popular young children's toy. I bet Mattel will make a Ken doll with that clothing matchup.

I can't wait to see the new trailer and characters!

Far right looks like Mr. Pricklepants

That thing to the right of Ken looks like a Moomin.

Ken's clothes are actually from a real Ken doll from 1988 - "Animal Lovin' Ken":

He went with "Animal Lovin' Barbie", naturally:

Also, if you mess with the levels of the picture in photoshop, you can see another one of the characters in the bottom left corner.

Glad to see all these on-topic comments. Keep them coming!

You can see the purple octopus and behind him the insectoid alien in the trailer. I couldn't see any of the rest, as far as I can make out.

Down the front left is a worm with glasses on. And the doll on the far left looks similar to one seen in the first movie, one of Sid's experiments that emerges from the puddle to stalk him.

I doubt Sid's in that picture. Wouldn't he be in his 20's by now? Seems weird to have him there. Unless he's a daycare worker..., OOH! That'd be a cool twist.
I agree that Ken's clothes are rather flamboyant. Is it based on one of the older models? And I love the look of Peas-in-a-Pod, toddlers get the cutest toys!

Just under the three, main center, that's gotta be the little hedgehog Timothy Dalton character.

Thanks Kate for the tip...

I put it into iPhoto, and I too saw the bookworm. The other ones seem to have been purposely pixelated out in black for obscurtion. Perhaps this bookworm thing will be the next released character?

My guess, is that they'll reveal the worm next since he is practically visible anyway. As far as the issue with the "human" character, I don't think it's human at all. Why would they put so much emphasis on the "Toys" and throw it off with a human, especially an out of proportion human? Pixar is too smart do do something like that, leave that kind of mishap to Dreamworks!! P.S., Pods look GREAT!! Almost as if Pixar created a whole new toy on they're own. Thats why they dominate. And love the Mantis Warrior!!

Hmmm, if we worked as a daycare worker, then he must've gotten over his massive phobia of toys, huh? LOL

I actually really wanna see what Sid is like grown up...see if he'd treat the toys nicely or just avoid them altogether. I think he was Andy's age, so he'd be 18 or so as well.

I can see that shadowy figure as Sid though...I mean, the shadow doesn't LOOK like a little kid, but more like someone in their teens, so IDK.

We'll just have to find out later on today...I keep checking the Disney site to see if they update it. I get too excited. LOL

We definitely know where Lotso is. Will Mr. Prickelpants be in there? Clearly from the trailer the purple octopus is important. I agree that Ken's clothes are totally weird! Peas-in-a-Pod are adorable & I also agree that there's a menacing humanoid toy obscuring the logo

Go to Disney.com and look at the ring of characters,go to woody and hang your mouse over him to seee a pegasus looking thing!

@HW:
That's a great picture, whoever made it, but we now know what that phone toy in the lower right looks like. Woody was holding its/his handset in the trailer.

The human shape is a baby doll- we see it in the trailer when Lotso (pink bear) says that being donated was the best thing to happen to a toy. The telephone was made by Fisher Price in the 1970s and is still available today. Ken is indeed Animal Lovin Ken and Barbie is Great Shape Barbie. The small human shape truly is a baby doll- trust me on this
