Henry Selick joining Pixar

Briefly: Stop-motion animation master Henry Selick has "struck an exclusive long-term deal" to direct features in his trademark style "for Disney/Pixar", it was reported Wednesday evening.

Selick will be based at Pixar in Emeryville, where he's been spotted in the past few months. How the films would be branded has not been made public.

This is great news! I love Selick's films, especially The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. What about you, Mike?

I'm almost positive that's meant as an april fool's gag and not real.

That's absolutely amazing. Two things about it; One, to have one of the best animation directors out there absorbed into the best animation studio. And Two, that having a contract with Disney and Pixar would mean Selick won't have too much trouble with finding funding for projects.

This is great news.

One of the best animation directors around teaming up with the best animation studio. I hope that we'll see Henry Selick putting out a movie more often than once every ten years or so now.

Hmmm, I wonder if he decided to leave Focus Features voluntarily or if he had to leave?
