Pixar creative chief John Lasseter, president Ed Catmull, Pixar Canada creative director Dylan Brown, chief technical officer Darwyn Peachey, and general manager Amir Nasrabadi appear in the video to speak about the new studio, its purpose, and what it will add to Pixar as a whole.
Interestingly, Catmull mentions "half-hour television specials" in the same sentence as "various projects that we've got". A possible hint at Pixar's secret future plans, eh?
By the way, it's great to see Pixar paying so much attention to Canada these days. For example, next week, Chris Ford (who I met in Emeryville in April) and Dylan Sisson (creator of the RenderMan Walking Teapot) from the RenderMan team will be speaking in Toronto and Montreal at two sold-out events aimed at the CG community.

Hey Mike! Will you be going to the Toronto presentation? If so, I expect a full report! ; )
I'd love to be there, if it wasn't sold out...
No, I won't be going. Too technical!
That's incredible. I'm unfortunately way on the other side of Canada, but it's still amazing news to me. :)
is. This still on utube? I can't view it. Thanks!
Mike, if you could work at Pixar•Canada, what position would you like? If you're not too into technical, do you do art?
Oh, if only I could! I'd be happy doing pretty much anything. Thing is, I don't know anything technical and I can't draw or animate.
Too bad I just found out about the events.. Id missed a great oportunity, I'd love to go. :/
I'm curious if they're moving the Seattle team up to the Vancouver campus also, or if they will just be staying where they're at . . .
(if you didnt know, they are strictly software tool engineers, no art/story/film)
@Mike: You must be good at something... Writing? Basic software? Website design?
Heck, you could even apply for a job in the kitchen! If you're a good chef... : )
Writing and some intermediate Photoshop maybe :)
@Mike: There is no such thing as "can't draw." You don't have to be a great artist, but if you can put pen to paper, you can draw.
