Pixar's latest short film Day & Night, playing in theatres with Toy Story 3, is available for purchase from the iTunes Store (U.S. and Canada) today. It's only $1.99/$2.29 and is already in my playlist. Directed by Teddy Newton, the short runs 6:03.

why do they release it so early?
Fantastic! I wonder if a 3D version will be available for purchase to view on a 3D TV or something like Nintendo's 3DS. I know Disney showed off a Tangled trailer in 3D on the handheld device at E3.
So soon? Even when it's still in theaters? (And hasn't been there long?)
I think Day & Night was clearly the most innovative short Pixar has done in decades, but that having been said, I also think it's the lest entertaining short they have ever done except for Boundin'.
Kudos to them for trying something new, but next time make it more interesting.
I loved Day & Night. Partly Cloudy and Presto remain my favorite shorts, but Day & Night was brilliant. It reminded me of the clever National Film Board of Canada shorts in the Tournee of Animation that used to make the rounds before the days of cable and home video. Awesome combination of great hand drawn animation and CGI.
Seeing it in 3D was amazing: It seemed like the characters' bodies really were open windows to another dimension. The message was sweet (I don't think the radio broadcast bit was necessary but it definitely made its point.) The midnight screening crowd applauded; It got everyone in a great mood for the feature.
Jordan, I believe they've been doing this since Presto.
Kyle and Jodran, they have been doing it since at least One Man Band back in 2006 which went onto iTunes within a couple days of it hitting the big screen with Cars.
Of course it is a huge waste of money to buy them on iTunes though since they will always be included free on the DVD and BRD releases of the movies they play with theatrically.
A huge waste of money? It's $2...
Hey went to see Toy Story 3 yesterday and was blown away by the short at the beginning, so I did a little review and wouldn't mind if you had a read and leave me some feed back.
Check it out:
