Cars 2 trailer debuts online

The first full-length theatrical trailer for Cars 2 has been released online on YouTube and it has everything you've come to expect from the world of Cars and more. Watch it in HD if you can.

A few things stand out right away: the bright lights of Tokyo look great —they're going to look great on the big screen. In fact, all of the animation and visuals are top notch. That quick crash at 0:33 is timed for maximum impact.

We also get our first listen at spy Finn McMissle, although we still don't know who's doing the voice voiced by Michael Caine. Mater's rejoinder to Finn's identification of himself as "British intelligence" is guaranteed to make you laugh.

But what really matters is the story and it appears that Cars 2 is well covered in that department. Hopefully this trailer will help erase some people's doubts. This will be Pixar's twelfth classic feature.

But we know who Finn is!

I immediately identified him as Michael Caine. And the websites are confirming it now!

Finn sounds like Michael Caine

ichael Caine is the voice of Finn McMissile and Emily Mortimer is the voice of the purple car.

I think it's fairly obvious who's doing Finn's voice from the trailer! Unless it's an impressionist, I'd know that voice anywhere!

Guaranteed? I didn't laugh.

Sorry if I seem a little negative, but the trailer did not erase any of my doubts. I guess I won't be sure until the reviews come out, or I actually get to see the movie. I still think that making Mater such a major part of the storyline was a huge mistake. Imagine if you made Jar-Jar the main character of one of the Star Wars films: that's kind of how I feel about this.

Uh, It's Michael Caine, no?

I hope this works, because what I feel worked for the first "Cars" was the whole retro feel of the location and the movie. From this trailer, that appears to be gone in favor or taking the story down a 'James Bond'/'Spy vs Spy' road which I don't think works. Keeping my fingers crossed.

OMIGOSH THIS LOOKS FABULOUS!!!! I AM GOING INSANE FROM HAVING TO WAIT EIGHT MORE MONTHS FOR THIS!!!!

Someone said on a previous post that Finn McMissile was rumored to be played by Jack Black. I heard his voice in Kung Fu Panda (which is hilarious), and that is definitely not him. Way too British. It sounds a *little* like Timothy Dalton (Mr. Pricklepants) but I'd have to watch again to be certain.

It's Michael Caine doing the Finn voice. A nice choice.

It does sound like Michael Caine. I've asked Pixar publicity to confirm before updating the post.

Ugh, I'm not good at recognizing voices...

Michael Caine is a darn good choice. And that purple car that Anonymous #2 mentioned, is that the one who says, "You've GOT to be kidding!"

Do we know if Sally is actually returning? The trailer didn't show her at all.

It didn't erase any of my doubts either... And i completely agree with Alan and Graeme.
I think this money-making trend will have (or is having) some bad consequences. But if i had to say something good about the trailer, i'd say i liked the song and the 'Cars 2' logo animation at the end, which is why i must say that this James Bond-ish look and feel, despite not being what we'd like to see on screen next summer, is actually working, i mean, it does feel like a spy movie... and that is something...

I remember thinking that there shouldn't ever be a Toy Story 3... and turns out, it's (in my opinion) the best movie they've done.

So I'm trying to keep an open mind about this one. Maybe the higher ups care more about the marketing value of Cars, but I believe the creative people making the movie are more concerned with the overall story and this could be a good one.

Here's hoping Pixar knocks yet another one out of the park. :)

I think this looks fantastic! Cars is still my least favorite Pixar film, but, as i said, this trailer looks good, and I trust Pixar because I don't have any reason not to.

I cannot wait for this movie!! I can't wait to see these characters back - with action this time! The first cars was all about slowly down, but I'm liking the fast-paceness of this sequel.

To compare Mater to Jar Jar Binks is just a little silly. Mater is lovable character with heart...he's not just "comic relief" in my eyes.

I cannot wait for this movie and am so sick of naysayers. It's a nice change from the slow pace of the first Cars, and I'm so happy to see these fun characters back in a faster paced flick the second time around.

To compare Jar Jar and Mater, to me, is just silly. Mater is not just "comedy relief" but is a character full of heart.

June can't come soon enough.

Wow the trailer makes the movie look like it's going to be fun. I was very apprehensive when I heard they were starting up more sequels but this one seems like a fun new direction. Thanks for posting the clip; I'm excited to see what surprises they have up their sleeves (or fenders).

Any word on how they're writing out Doc Hudson?

Looks like the Tokyo adventure from Mater's tales (Carstoon) was testing grounds for this new film. Kudus to Pixar as that was possibly the most exciting tale and now it's brought up to the big screen. I think we are forgetting that Cars is more appropriate for younger viewers although the same could be said about the darker TS3. Nevertheless we'll be in for the ride!

... that was quite underwhelming.
(I was always a nay-sayer for Cars 2, though again I sure wouldn't mind being proved wrong.)
For a trailer, they definitely seemed to be cashing in on the fact that most of the intended audience has seen the first movie, and seen it many more times than once. (Not that they haven't...) The trailer for the first movie had me much more interested than the one for the sequel. Of course, that's typical.

I really have interest in this movie at all. Pixar makes amazing films, but I really feel that Cars, while a good movie, make sure teenager, children and family absolutely love this Cars 2, this movie will be enjoyable for them. Watch Movies Online Free
