Veteran cartoonist and Disney Legend Floyd Norman let it slip on Twitter that he's seen a new Pixar short film set in (or themed around) Hawaii, starring Ken and Barbie from Toy Story 3.
"Ken and Barbie want to go to Hawaii. I don't know what it's gonna be attached to. Fun stuff, however."
Based on earlier forum chatter, Upcoming Pixar reports that the short may be entitled Dream Vacation. This may very well be the Toy Story short set to be attached to Cars 2.
So it's likely we'll be learning more about this short soon. Such a different setting for the toys is a wonderful idea.

That might be interesting, actually. Maybe Bonnie's family is headed to Hawaii, and she brings the toys along with him. Now I see this as a great place for Ken. I wonder if he'll stow away.
I like the idea of the short, but its not what I had in mind if this is to be attached to Cars 2. I wanted something staring Bonnie's toys. Although I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity for that later with the new Toy Story Toons. but only one will make it to the big screen.
Sounds cool, I hope we see some other TS Toons before hand though, like how we saw some Cars Toons before Tokyo Mater was attached to Bolt.
Just one question:
Is there also going to be an original short in addition to the Toy Story one?
I kinda like the way the title sounds like. It sounds funny if you say it like this (in a fast way): "Toy story gang headed to hawaii?". LOL!!!

I don't think so.
I think it's a good idea. Ken and Barbie were definitely the star side characters of TS3. That dress-up fashion show Ken did still cracks me up every time I see it. And Barbie at the end pulling out the line about "power should reside with the people" was left-field genius.
Anonymous 3.0: I doubt they'd have two shorts. Many of the full-length movies had recurring characters in shorts, like Mike's Car or Mater and the Ghost Light. Though I have to say the last few originals have really been amazing, so I kind of get your point.
Can't care less about Bonnie's toys.
What I really want to see is Woody, Buzz, and Andy. As it has always been!
