'TS3' No. 1 on TIME best movies list

Toy Story 3 is No. 1 on TIME's Top 10 Movies list for the year, part of its Top 10 Everything of 2010 series.

Writing for the magazine, critic Richard Corliss says that "director Lee Unkrich and writer Michael Arndt have confected a powerful fable" in 'TS3'. And he has a message for Hollywood: "Watch this and see how it's done."

"I'm speechless," Unkrich tweeted in reaction to the honour. He later laughed off that the article originally misspelled his name as "Les": "Les is more".

Reporting on the story, The Hollywood Reporter's Tim Appelo writes that "when animation finally wins respect in the best picture category, the next step will be to give these guys their due in best director."

If Toy Story 3 doesn't win the academy award for Best Picture, the academy will have lost ALL credibility. Although many would say they did that a long time ago and this would only confirm it yet again.

This IS the Best Picture of 2010, hands down, no exceptions, PERIOD.

Wow, thats quite an honor. Best of luck to Pixar at the oscars!

Anonymous: Yeah. The only thing that could even compare with TS3 would be "Inception," and like with "WALL-E" and "The Dark Knight" in 2008, that's a worthy battle.

However considering the craziness of the Academy, Inception probably won't get nominated for Best Picture and then TS3 will HAVE to win.

The King's Speech (opened limited today) is more than a worthy adversary for awards season... So, I wouldn't say if Inception isn't nominated TS3 HAS to win.

I've never even HEARD of that one. And seeing as I haven't, I think I'll stick to my earlier opinion. And considering all the massive hype there is--even comparing it to The Return of the King--it probably will win, or at least it will have a darn good try.

Really, if TS3 doesn't win, then that means one thing... the Academy are such idiots that they don't think that an animated movie can win Best Picture. Let me tell you something pal. If not for Christopher Nolan's films "Dark Knight" and "Inception," all three of Pixar's most recent 3 films would get my vote for Best Picture. (That means that "Up" did get my vote.)
Seriously, the Academy is DEMENTED, SICK, and just a bunch of pieces of ****.

@Darrell Hear, hear!

The King's Speech is triumphantly amazing - go see it. The Social Network is also excellent, which means Pixar's masterpiece has some serious and valid competition.

I'm a big fan of Nolan, and Inception was amazing, but The Dark Knight was honestly a little superior - and it wasn't even nominated.

TS3 has a better shot at winning then Inception, but even that seems to be a long shot.

I just looked at what King's Speech is about. It looks like a fairly interesting movie; if I find it at a nearby movie theater, I *might* go and see it. And I saw the Social Network earlier this year. That one was pretty interesting, but I didn't like it enough that I would be happy if it won Best Picture.

If The King's Speech is as good as you say it is (and I don't take judgment based upon one person's opinion), then it looks like there could be a battle for Best Picture (King's Speech/TS3) similar to The Hurt Locker vs. Avatar last year. That'd be interesting to watch a sequel to "The Battle for Best Picture." :)

Anyone else tired of Darrell's comments?

YES! Go away Darrell!

How nice it is to have so many people clamoring for my leaving of this blog. And yet I have a few people who think I'm right at times (thank you for your support, Anonymous #3).

@Darrell Sure thing! :) Listen, ignore them. Everyone has their own opinion, and I've never seen you come across as mean spirited. Although, they just were, so maybe they should take their own advice. Don't let the jerks get you down!

Yeah, agreed... they should take their own advice. :)

Darrell, you misunderstand me. I just asked a simple question. I wasn't trying to be a jerk. If you feel I was, well that's your problem. Or your opinion. Either one.

My point is that you don't need to comment on everything. It's great that you have an opinion and are so enamored with sharing that opinion with the rest of the world, but you need to get over yourself. You've commented quite a lot lately here and on Blue Sky Disney. Your participation is eager, if not a bit overzealous.

Your comments reflect your naïveté regarding the entertainment industry in general. Case in point, The King's Speech will be one of the major award contenders this year, yet you've never heard of it. Educate yourself, Darrell, and then bring something to the table that the rest of us can appreciate.

Speaking of that, have you begun educating yourself about animation yet?

Well I'm sorry I misunderstood you... those things happen sometimes.

I have a different taste in films than some people who will watch almost anything. Although I love a good story, I'm not a particularly huge fan of the drama genre (that's what King's Speech is, right?). I prefer action/adventure flicks. I also like fantasy, some comedy (if it's not badly over-the-top) and of course animation (although that's not technically a genre). I tend to keep up with that stuff more.

I'm a little interested in seeing King's Speech now but I still have yet to do so. Maybe I might have seen it by the time it wins Best Picture, since you think it's a good contender alongside the fabulous TS3.

Maybe that might clear up my "naivete" of entertainment... and this should be my last comment on this post, unless I get more questions. There, I'm gone... from this post anyway. ;)
