Pixar creative chief and Cars 2 director John Lasseter will have a cameo in the film as a "hefty", all-American, yellow pick-up truck, John Lassetire.
The cameo was revealed about an hour ago in an Associated Press story (via ABC News). Disney/Pixar just sent me this high resolution image of the character.
Lasseter tells the AP that he was surprised by the honor, which comes on the heels of Pixar's 25th anniversary:
"It was news to me. I did not know about that, so I was a little surprised. I ended up voicing this character. It was just one line, but now I have a Cars character. I'm very excited about that."
Who wouldn't be?

How about Pixar GM, Jim Morris, as a Morris Minor 1000 or Traveller? These were manufactured in the UK 1956-71 and often referred to as "the Morrie."

This is a great cameo. I agree with John F... He should be wearing a Hawaiian shirt! If not the shirt, it would seem an old "Woody" car with a surfboard might be appropriate too.
I love it. He could have also been Mater's long lost Hawaiian cousin named John Lostatire.
Will it be an Andrew Stanton-style cameo (aka an extended cameo) or a Lee Unkrich-style cameo (he had 1 line as a jack-n-the-box in TS3)?
I heard it will be a one-line cameo. Apparently he's the crew pit chief for one of the racing cars.

I think this is pretty clever! With human character cameos that are gag casts like this, usually you'd make the character look like the person, but here, they don't really have to do that!
And how would a car wear a shirt? The most they can manage are hats and headphones.

@Jordan: By paints :) But a Hawaiian style painting on a car wouldn't really work. Nobody does that in real life, much less in the racing world.
