Reher discusses future Pixar shorts

As part of a larger discussion with the Animation World Network about the role short films play at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, Day & Night producer Kevin Reher (left) spoke about the short that will be shown in theatres with Brave next year.

He says:
"It's funny, the new film we're finishing production on now, which will be attached to Brave in 2012, it's three characters and two sets, and man, how easy it is. It's different, there're no gags…
It's beautiful, it's lyrical, it's very different from all the other ones. It's amazing how easy it can be when you just have three characters and two sets."
Reher also talked about choosing the short that will be attached to Pixar's unannounced 2013 feature, possibly the one being directed by Pete Docter.
"We're working right now figuring out which one's going to be the 2013 short film. There are two that are both going to go in front of John [Lasseter]. One is very different from anything we've ever done. One is a little more traditional."
I would pay big bucks to know what these shorts are about and what they're titled.

The comprehensive interview with Reher, Teddy Newton (right), and Dean Wellins, director of the Disney short Tick Tock Tale, spans 8-pages, so much more discussed. Read it here.

I should know this, but what is the short that will be attached to Cars 2?

Nevermind, I remembered. It's going to be a Toy Story short about Ken and Barbie.

Hm, he mentions two possibilities for the 2013 film, but said nothing of the one with Monsters Inc 2?

Methinks that whatever one the 2013film gets, Monsters Inc 2 gets the other.

I'm still wondering what happened with the Disney short, Glago's Ghost. That did look awesome but no idea what film that was attached to (Princess and the Frog?) and haven't seen it.

Nini: You mean Glago's Guest. I wondered about that too. There were rumors that it didn't test well with audiences.
