Dan Scanlon directing Monsters University

Several outlets are reporting that Pixar has revealed Dan Scanlon as the director of Monsters University. The confirmation came during this week's Cars 2 bloggers' event at Pixar, which I unfortunately wasn't able to attend.

Scanlon (@MrDanScanlon on Twitter) is a former Disney and DreamWorks animator. Having joined Pixar in the mid-2000s, he did storyboards and provided screenplay material for Cars and co-directed the feature-based short Mater and the Ghostlight.

Always good to have new feature directors!

Countdown to see if he's removed from the project and replaced.

If not, we'll have our first fresh director in a long time!

Hmmm... Dreamworks? That can't be good Hehehe Let's hope these 11 years working at Pixar have made him less Dreamworks-ish.
[Please don't attack me by saying how awesome HTTYD was, I also think it was].

Where people animate for is where people animate for - you can't deny that DreamWorks has a good set of animators talent-wise, no matter what you think of the upper level management.

Not arguing - just saying. I wish him the best at Pixar.

get your facts straight, Scanlon did not work for dreamworks, he worked for a small studio called character builders doing story work for disney sequels before joining pixar

Thanks for that detail. Corrected.

@ Alexandro. Dreamworks Animation's team actually admire Pixar and its movies, and they never have thought of a rivalry between them as many say.

I love the dark ambiance of those concept arts, they are surely saying that the movie will be gritty and give a real magic to these fantasy movies.

I knew some of you were going to disagree with me. Oh well, let's answer:
@Anonymous #1: I don't get your philosophical sentence.. ): But you're right, they have good animators.
@Anonymous #3: I never said any Pixar employee looked down on any Dreamworks employee. I just said that, since he's worked at Dreamworks -and most of Dreamworks movies are lousy- I just hope he doesn't bring that 'lousiness' to the studio, which i doubt, since he was only an animator [and they're talented, aren't they, Anonymous #1?]. But now it turns out he didn't even work at Dreamworks, as Anonymous #2 pointed out. So this whole conversation is pointless.
Oh! And btw, This post is about Monsters University, not about Brave. :D
