Cars 2 is "biggest effects film we’ve ever done", says producer Denise Ream

Cars 2 producer Denise Ream (pictured at far left with some familiar faces) lets drop some interesting facts about the film and its enormous scope in an interview with Collider published today.
"This movie is bigger than Pixar’s ever done," she says. "We go to way more locations, we have way more sets, way more characters, it’s the biggest effects film we’ve ever done."
The film was originally going to be even bigger, with the cars heading to a fifth international destination: Germany's Black Forest. An early draft also had the story open in Prague (Prayge? Prahge?), but director John Lasseter wanted a more intriguing opening sequence (think The Bourne Identity).

Ream also opens up about her career at Pixar. She joined the studio in October 2006 after thirteen years at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Her first role was as associate producer on Up, where she managed schedules, budget and staffing.

Whenever I hear a filmmaker boast about their special effects, I get flashbacks to the Star Wars prequels. Let's hope the story in Cars 2 keeps up with the shiny things.

I really would love to work at Pixar...
Not as a animator or something similar to that, I'm not so much of a drawer. I'm working on my drawing currently but it isn't to great, who knows, I could get better with practice. I'd like to work in story mostly but I think being a Producer would be the closest I could get without being able to draw.

Well, don't forget, she is the producer. Lasseter didn't mention anyhting about the effects in his recent interview. He talked about story and characters.
