"Giacchino also composed the score for next year's short (in front of Brave). Too bad he doesn't do Brave itself.
After Cars 2 scoring sessions [were] done, the musicians stayed put and recorded the music for that short. It's a nice and clever short, very well-put together, and needless to say, Giacchino's music for the short is very fitting."I can't independently confirm this, so treat it as a rumor for now. But something tells me it's for real.
-----
Update: Confirmed. The title of the short is La Luna.

I wouldn't really be surprised if he did. He has scored for most of the latest shorts.
And though him scoring for Brave doesn't sound like a bad idea, I think Thomas Newman is a better choice for the sake of variety. Besides, his work is pretty good as well... Thomas Newman is still Pixar's choice for scoring Brave, right?
We currently have no idea who is scoring Brave. At one time it WAS Michael Giacchino, and another time it was John Powell and Robert Folk collaborating. (A Remote Control composer coming to Pixar? Now THAT would've been amazing.)
For now it remains unknown.
That would be awesome T Newman did do Brave. I think Thomas Newman's score for WALL•E is my favorite Pixar score followed by Giacchino's Incredibles
IMDb has Patrick Doyle listed as the composer. Of course, we all know how reliable they are. *rolls eyes* I think I'd be more excited about Thomas Newman; I'm a huge fan of his work, and I think he could do amazing things for Brave. Doyle wouldn't be a bad choice though.
So Thomas Newman has never been the official composer? Darn you, Wikipedia! It'd be awesome, though. I mean, John Powell is excellent, but perhaps his work could resemble what he did for How to Train your Dragon. Patrick Doyle's score for Harry Potter didn't really stand out, and Giachino's already scoring for Cars 2, so Thomas Newman would be my choice (lol as if it was up to me...) Besides, I love how dramatic his work actually is. It would fit Brave pretty well.
However, I'm just a fanboy giving my opinion, who knows who's actually going to score it...
