A couple of cool Cars 2 videos emerged today: a new featurette with never-before-seen footage from the film and the penultimate Cars 2 trailer remade using LEGO. Enjoy.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!! The Lego trailer is beyond AWESOME! How did they do that?! And as for the featurette, i won't watch it, you know.. spoilers. I wonder why Lego men didn't appear in Toy Story...
I must admit, I'm still not really sold on Cars 2. I thought perhaps by this stage I would be, but I'm just not impressed. That's not to say I still don't expect to like it, but I'm really feeling that this will end up being my least favorite Pixar film.
Hey, man. I know this comment has nothing to do with this post, but I have been wondering about what happened with 1906 and John Carter of Mars, the rumoured projects about Pixar in real action movies. Do you know something? Are they cancelled? Was this rumor real or confirmed ever? Nice blog, by the way.
John Carter of Mars is currently in post-production for a 2012 release. But it's not a Pixar project as once believed. Director Andrew Stanton & others were 'loaned out' to Walt Disney Pictures.
1906, which was supposed to be a co-production with Warner Bros., has been shelved indefinitely.
I'll probably angle at what Logan said and probably add that a good deal of effects were probably CGI as it's real hard to get some of the stuff in that trailer done in stop-motion, especially the facial expression which were composited.

That first featurette did more to excite me for Cars 2 than any of those trailers did.
And the Lego thing was just awesome. Kudos to that guy!

On a side note, that Lego trailer is incredible!

The lego trailer is REALLY well done! It looks like a combination of stop-motion, "hand-drawn" faces, and digital compositing effects.
It'd be great to find out, because it's a really nice piece.
I mean, my god, the explosion and bullet trails!... If they were actual lego pieces with light inside them?.....
wow.
I think the faces were removable stickers.
This probably has something to do with an eventual "Cars 2" line of LEGO sets.
LEGO minifigures appear in the upcoming Toy Story short "Hawaiian Vacation".

Nice job, Lego, way to create synergy!
Most people don't realize that McQueens not the main character this time. It's Mater. Just saying.
