Dutch animation blog Animatie has discovered the very first film still from Brave, posted on a French Disney fan page on Facebook.
The shot may be from the upcoming teaser. (Will update with hi-res version as soon as it becomes available.)
It's our first look at Princess Merida (voiced by Kelly McDonald) as a fully-rendered character and matches this concept art revealed in March.

I must appreciate that she isn't a lanky little thing with a cute face. I have some mixed feelings about her facial structure, but it's still not a clear shot. Nice to finally see a rendering!
Oh, this is gonna be so good!
Pretty...!
Beautiful... Magical... Yes!
Look at her HAIR!!!
I can't wait for this!
The shot is very Princess Mononoke reminiscent.
this looks good, no chance of seeing the pizza planet truck though in this movie
Wow! Looks like a painting...
Beautiful!!!!!
I badly expect this movie than any other made by pixar, as most of them will be now sequels. I love the extreme realism added to that expression on her face that I hardly realize its animation (although the blur fades a bit)
PD: at Brittney Williams, could be even a wink to that movie. Pixar's people adore Miyazaki's works and don't forget that Lasseter is a friend of him.
my god its awesome. the is little facial detail, almost like the simplistic faces from the Incredibles without the wild caricature. almost looks stop motion. from the facial expression and the lighting i believe i can ascertain its early in the morning, probably little to no danger and most likely a still from very early. the motion blur is fantastic. i think the hair will be awesome once viewed in motion. truly one stunning still from pixar's artistic geniuses
at first i wasnt so sure about pixar doing fairytale-type things but it looks like there going to pull it off
She's lovely...this movie will be awesome.
I'm in agreement with Arc about the facial structure; not so sure about it just yet, but I'll reserve final judgment until we get a better shot.
I love the overall feel of the shot though. Feels a bit more gritty than some of the more recent animated fantasy films we've seen. Hope this proves true.
To the second anonymous, your comment really made me think! I mean Pixar has had the truck in every movie. Maybe Merida has a dream of present day and sees a highway! Stupid, yes, but it's something!
Best Picture 2012, right here!!!
@JAY_Hosh - The Incredibles was the first (and hopefully, only) Pixar film to not have the 'Pizza Planet' truck.
The dream idea... not so good. They obviously won't do that, but I believe they can come up with a clever subtle way of working it in. I hope...
Awesome. I am EXTREMELY excited for this pixar film. Probably more so than any of the previous ones, maybe with the exception of WALLE. I love that the protagonist is female, and from this shot she looks like she's going to have a very traits. and my god that hair!
That looks beautiful! The look reminds me a bit of the Dark Crystal for some reason. Like they've reached that kind of creepy in-between of cartoon and reality.
I can't wait for this one.
@ Jay Hosh. I agree; It's stupid. I don't think they would compromise a story to fit in a truck. The only thing that is put into every movie is A113 and John Ratzenberger.
It has that misty feel to its animation. Very dreamy which makes it a magical movie, I suppose.
to be honest while the first cars was my favorite among the pixar films, cars 2 was my least favorite for 5 reasons 1.the violence was extreme for a g rated 2.if there were humans instead of cars the film would probaly be rated R for strong brutal bloody gory violence throught 3.had the least emount of emotions but it was emotional to my opinion though 4.it dosen`t relate with the first one 5.miles axelrod, prefessor z,acer and grem make chick hicks look extremely likeable[and chick was my least favorite charactar in cars]. and to you parents this comment was made from a 15 year old boy who likes action films.
