Pixar Phase II building opens

After two years under construction, the Phase II expansion of Pixar's Emeryville, CA campus opened to employees on Friday without public fanfare.

Known internally as "Brooklyn", Phase II will house projects that are in the pre-production stage of development, roughly the first two years of a film's life. The shows will move to the main building as they get closer to release.

Pixar will accommodate hundreds of employees in the new building, which features a 110-seat theatre, recording equipment, game room, and full-service café.

Unfortunately the studio has said that there are no plans to release any pictures of the interior for the time being. Feel free to protest in comments.

It's interesting that the path of a film physically moves through the buildings through time.

If only I had been offered a tour by my friend now instead of a few months ago!
