A Special Announcement

After nearly four years, its time for a change. This fall, The Pixar Blog will transform into something completely new. I don’t want to give away too much just yet, but suffice it to say that animation lovers (including Pixar fans) should enjoy it. Stay tuned.

A new layout?

Oooh I am very excited!! No little hints? heh heh.

I foresee something much broader than Pixar alone, maybe covering all feature animation as a whole but doing that does mean playing with the big boys like Cartoon Brew.

Hopefully you won't be so myopic as to only see the past and never the future like those guys.

your going to expand to news on all animation studios, not only pixar.am i right?

Okay... now I'm intrigued... when are we going to find out more?

will wait for it.

"animation lovers (including Pixar fans) should enjoy it"? Sounds like you're turning into The General Animation Blog. Which is weird, considering the attitude you have displayed towards certain other animation studios out there in the past... So I'm probably wrong. Can't wait to find out, though!

How new is 'completely new'? The same should be done for Pixar's webpage. Some Flash wouldn't hurt...

The suspense!

Aw what a tease!

Announcing a future announcement seems to be a very popular practice at the moment.

Alexandro Fantino: Flash? No! HTML5 is what you want.

Platform change (like instead of Blogger?)

Mike Bastoli said...

Never. I'm sticking with Blogger.

can you give a date that you will make your announcement?

Mike Bastoli said...

You'll be hearing more in early September.

I hope that this blog just sticks with Pixar content - I don't really care that much about other animation studios (except Ghibli, I guess), that's why I read this particular blog and not something more general.

A nicer looking site would be nice though.

Great Mike. You posted the link to the first article. Now I just have to read every single article you ever posted. This is really going to keep me up all night long.

Oh, and by the way, you've come a long way since that first post! Congratulations! It must have taken some patience for the first year or two... But now you are officially recognized by Pixar! (As in being sent free stuff and being invited to screenings)

I've been reading your blog since sometime before Up... Thanks for all the time and effort you put into it!

@Alex: Pixar does not need Flash on their website.

If you want to know why I am so anti-Flash, check out disney.com I hate that website. It's much worse than Pixar's. You can't find anything you are looking for if it involves the company itself, not their franchises. Oh, and it takes an awfully long time to load.

HTML5 is better... but, it has a tendency to slow down Firefox... Maybe it's just my computer.

Nini said...

Maybe he’s changing format and becoming all Apple, all the time. I’d still read it of course being a fellow Machead and all but that doesn’t seem to encapsulate that whole “all animation fans” thing he threw out to us.

All bets remain on a more general coverage of the animation big boys.

I really hope this blog remains as a Pixar themed blog, I love it right now and I hope it gets a makeover (the simple design is nice but a redesign would be refreshing!). I just think this is the best Pixar, and in general, blogs on the web! I hope it stays that good. But change is good!

'What does an HTML5 site look like?' would've been my question had I not searched 'HTML5 site examples.'

I found some blogs and they work like a charm. They're fast, look elegant and feel sophisticated. I guess that's the kind of change you're going for. Looking forward to it.

And Anon 2.0, I think you're right on that one. The appeal of Pixar's site lays within its simplicity.

I Gotta' admit, I hope this wont be turned into a general animation blog; I love it just as is. It's my favorite place for Pixar news and it wont be the same if it includes news on all animated films. Of course, having said that, it is your blog and you can do as you please with it.

Looking forward to the new look though!

I don't know if I want this blog to change its focus from "only Pixar", but I must admit, I don't know of any similar DreamWorks or Blue Sky blogs...

"I don’t want to give away too much just yet, but suffice it to say that animation lovers (including Pixar fans) should enjoy it." I wonder what this means? Me being a Animation Fan and who studied Animation as a Major in college, am really looking 4ward and seeing how this hint that you've given us involves The New Pixar Blog!!! let the imagination run Wild.(No Pun intended.)
