Untitled Pixar feature coming Nov. 27, 2013

It's been learned that a currently untitled Pixar feature is set for release in theatres on November 27, 2013. No details on its theme have been made public.

The news was first reported by Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood. Finke reports that "It's an original project, not a sequel."

While confirming the scheduling news, Pixar politely declined to comment further to me.

But my money's on this being the dinosaur project, with Pete Docter directing.

(Curiously, Pixar held a dinosaur-themed evening for employees in late April, which included a screening of Jurassic Park.)

It also wouldn't be surprising to see the release date later pushed to Summer 2014.

Hooray, an anonymous Pixar film announcement! It's been a while since we saw one of those.

it was reported a while back that Bob Peterson was directing his own film. the article has pete docter saying Bob Peterson shifted from working on UP to his new project in late 2008. That would put it at roughly five years which is what these movies usually take. the only thing i keep thinking about is that pixar is going to need more layout artists, animators, lighters, shaders, texture mappers and an incredibly massive Render Farm to churn out two movies so close together

I thought the dinosaur thing was because of that thing they were doing for the discovery channel?

I dunno about the dinosaur thing. According to this article, the concept work was from a collaboration with Discovery Channel. Unless the "date" is actually when the TV special airs, rather than a feature film...

Still, it's exciting.

Lol at the last line, and yeah! I'd say it's the 'untitled dinosaur project' on which Pete Docter's been working on. And I really hope that with this movie, along with Monsters University, we will finally watch two movies in the same year.
By the way, that must be the coolest interrogation mark I've ever seen!

But wasn't all the dinosaur stuff theorized to be part of the Pixar/Discovery Channel project that was revealed last year? "Reign of the Dinosaurs," right?

Excellent news Mike. Get digging.

Kyle, Arc, Jeff Coté: Reign of the Dinosaurs turned out not to be a Pixar project. Only a few artists who had previously worked at Pixar were involved. Discovery's press release was quite misleading.
