The first teaser for Walt Disney Pictures' John Carter, directed by Pixar's Andrew Stanton, has arrived online at iTunes Movie Trailers.
The trailer should dispel the idea that the live-action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' series is a Pixar project, as once assumed.
John Carter is clearly a whole different animal—more Avatar (in some ways) than Finding Nemo.
Cinematography and music in the teaser are epic, but some of the dialogue worryingly falls back on old cliches.
We shall see how it turns out March 9, 2012.

How can you make a statement that the dialogue "worringly falls into old cliches" based on 5 lines that may or may not be in the film?
"Worringly", by the way, is not a word.
can't say I'm uber-psyched from the trailer. Maybe that will come with time. for the moment tho, the music sounds terrific. Is that the actual score or temp, do you know?
Goppy: "worringly" is not a word, but worryingly is.
"I'M STICKING BY YOU THE WAY YOU'VE ALWAYS STUCK BY ME!"
Thankfully, Lightning McQueen did not utter this line of 'dialogue' in the actual Cars 2 :)
Anyone who would use the word "worringly" should not criticize anyone else's writing.
is this andrew stantons first live action movie?
Looking forward to this so long as it doesn't involve a comedy sidekick from out of nowhere.
Meh. I'm sorry, but that just didn't look very good. Being directed by Andrew Stanton, I'm sure I will still see it, but my excitement for this movie turned to indifference upon seeing this trailer.
I guess time will tell...
Prince of Persia + Avatar + Star Wars + Hero.
That's what it is looking a lot like, to me.
Like how it's a period piece... otherwise not really feeling this yet.
Andrew Stanton is directing this, Brad Bird directing Mission Impossible 4....*sigh*
I'm all for these Pixar directors making live-action films, but I dunno, I was kind of expecting more. I dunno, maybe they will surprise me.
What Angry Bird said! How come you're feeling worringly (lol) about the dialogue in this trailer, and never expressed such kind of concern with Cars 2 trailers? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, it just makes me curious.
The trailer is not a very good one, but I think it will be a good movie. It's Andrew Stanton we're talking about.
Note: Martian sky is supposed to be kinda pink, isn't it?
Taylor Kitsch is great on Friday Night Lights, but has no acting range whatsoever. He always does the same old routine.
The trailer started off well, but the moment you see him, it looks to be a better publicized version of that failed, never-seen Dragonball: Evolution live-action film or Jonah Hex
it looks like a solid movie to watch, just not an easy one to digest.
I prefer animated movies, so I'm not sure that I'll see this one.
Funny how close up Earth and the moon is to Mars from up there, and yet it's nary more than a dot in the sky from down here...
