Less than a month after its theatrical release, Cars 2 is already up for pre-order on Blu-ray and DVD at Amazon.com and other online retailers. No release date has yet been announced, but expect it to be sometime in early November.
Cars 2 will be available in both a deluxe 5-disc combo pack, which includes the film on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, and digital copy, and a regular 3-disc Blu-ray/DVD pack.
The 2-disc combo pack will be sold in both Blu-ray and DVD packaging, but content will be the same. The release on Blu-ray 3D will be the first for a Pixar film (the Toy Story trilogy won't be far behind).
It seems that Disney will be waiting a while before releasing the film on single-disc DVD—their latest move to spur adoption of the superior Blu-ray format.

It's still playing in theaters, that's a bit quick. Although I can see that November will be here before we know it!
There also seems to be a complete Cars 11 disc collection on Amazon also. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AUWY4A?ie=UTF8 Cars: John Lasseter Director's Edition (Cars / Cars 2 / Mater's Tall Tales) (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) with an exclusive John Lassetire toy car. It is expensive but has the complete Cars collection. It also contains a digital copy of Cars that is not available anywhere else.
Cars is the last feature film I needed to complete my Pixar Blu Ray collection (excluding Finding Nemo of course; fingers crossed for possible release with Cars 2 late this year). So I think I'll wait for this and get Mater's Tall Tales too, which I was not planning to get. Yes, Disney is getting my money, but at least I avoided double-dipping with Cars.
whoa!! that can't be right! it just came to theaters!
That's a pretty cool cover! can't wait until November!
The Cover's awesome, but, the DVD one is pretty lame, as in, just the DVD and 2 blu-rays, who needs 2 blu-rays?
Quick is right. It seems Pixar simply had money on their mind these days. What a disappointment.
This is the first Pixar movie I won't buy. It is simply not up to their standard. Too much 'Shreck-like noise', too much Mater, too thin story.
It lóóks amazing, but it's not a good movie.
Well love the 5-Disc pack, hopefully you guys take on Nemo next. It's about time we got some news about that (Even better would be a 3D rerelease like ratatouille and toy story.) Underwater movies are perfect for 3D trickery!
We want nemo, but we'll also buy Cars 2, it looks great :D
