Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt is all but confirmed to be writing the Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind.
IndieWIRE's The Playlist blog reported whispers of this when the film, set to open May 30, 2014, was announced this past Saturday.
After a fair bit of searching, I was able to find a post at Ain't It Cool News from April 2010 where Arndt casually mentioned: "I'm working on Pete Docter's next project at Pixar".
Pixar declined to comment "for now", but it's safe to assume things haven't changed and Arndt is still hard at work hammering out the script.

Yay! Of all the upcoming Pixar films, this is the one I'm looking forward to the most!
When I read he was writing for this movie I got extremely excited! There's no way this could turn out badly.
Wow, that's a fair amount of digging. Kudos, sir. :D
Cool, but Steve Jobs just resigned as CEO of Apple!!!
Anonymous 2, Steve Jobs resigning from his position as CEO of Apple is not going to affect the creative environment at Pixar. He was more of a business guy right from the beginning, and didn't have much to do with the creative decision making at Pixar.
good to see a fresh face
One thing I was worried about when hearing about a movie that has to do with the "human mind", was the limitless possibilities that can come from this idea and how hard it would be to narrow the idea down to a story that made sense story wise. However, it is encouraging to hear someone who knows story structure like Michael Arndt commit to a project like this. Pete Doctor knows how to create emotion and connect us to characters and Michael defiantly knows how to unfold a story. I am looking forward to this combination.
