First up is Pixar's long-awaited dinosaur project, directed by Bob Peterson (co-director/writer, Up), co-directed by Peter Sohn (director, Partly Cloudy), and produced by John Walker (producer, The Incredibles).
The studio's blurb for the film reads:
What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth? Director Bob Peterson’s hilarious tale depicts a world where dinosaurs never went extinct. That explains the boy and pet dinosaur in the concept art we first saw two years ago next week.
The second film is directed by Monsters, Inc. and Up director Pete Docter; Ronnie del Carmen (director, Dug's Special Mission) co-directs and Jonas Rivera (producer, Up) teams up with Docter again as producer.
From director Pete Docter comes an inventive new film that explores a world that everyone knows, but no one has seen: inside the human mind.
IndieWIRE's The Playlist blog heard through the grapevine that the script is being written by Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt and is "specifically about the formation of ideas"?
The human mind? This has potential to be the studio's most inventive and original film yet. Indeed, it's being described as "wildly ambitious" even for Pixar.
Which of these movies are you looking forward to the most? Please share your thoughts in comments.

Who would've guessed! Another movie about boys, for boys, by boys! Well, well. The human mind feature is intriguing, though. I'd like to hear more about that.
Both of these ideas sound great, especially the second one. And yay for no new sequels! Please keep it that way!
I was so scared Toy Story 4 would be there.
@anonymous 1
so, girls can't be interested in dinosaurs?
I love the fact that TS4 was not one of them, or any other sequels for that matter. Not that I don't love the sequels. Both of these sound really fun and exciting to me, and I'm thrilled to hear that Arndt is penning the ideas flick.
@Anon: Maybe but I'm sure Pixar will make it accessible to anyone though I'm guessing Newt's cancellation is something of a sore spot in the vicious wasteland of gender-specific features.
The film I'm waiting for, The Incredibles 2. I'll be waiting for that ahead of any film they announce no matter how awesome the concept until it's announced whenever that'll be.
The pet dinosaur one will be awesome. I'm looking forward to both because they're both Pixar. I'm so pleased that they have managed to do a mixture of both children's films and films with more grown-up themes to allow those of us that are no longer children to continue to grow with them. Can't wait!
Both are interesting topic. looking forward to both.
How do you choose?
Dinosaurs evolving alongside humans (and mammals in general of course) has so much potential: Who has the upper hand? Do we live in harmony? Have dinosaurs evolved as we have: developed speech and become civilised?
But then a film set inside the mind is, well, mind blowing. Is it going to be inside the brain in a Fantasic Voyage way? Will be little creatures living inside us working us like a machine (as I used to draw when little)? Could it be more abstract, as the mind is not a physical entity like the brain? Probably something different altogether. Definitely something amazing.
I can't wait.
Excellent! I look forward to both, especially the one that features Dinosaurs.
Both of them!
Amazing ideas.
The dinosaurs one could be a very beautiful movie.
They both sound so intriguing! I'm a huge dino fan so I'm definitely looking forward to the first one. But the second one also sounds very interesting!
YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! The one about dinosaurs sounds lovely, whereas the one inside the human mind could be anything! I wonder if they're aiming for a more grown-up audience for that one. I'm really looking forward to both!!! And no TS4!!! Happiest day ever!!! (not really, but perhaps the happiest day from this month.)
And as for the ambitiousness of the human mind project, I'd much rather have the studio taking wild risks rather than playing it safe (with sequels)
Espero con ansias ambas, pero apostaría a que me gustará más la segunda.
~
I look forward to both, but I would bet I'll like it better the second.
The origin of thought concepts sounds fantastic, so bonkers it has to be mega and a world with Dinosaurs will be guaranteed to please my smalls - look forward to hearing more!
2nd one! loved up and monsters inc so the director has my love and toy story 3 has my respect so should be intriguing
Pixar dinosaurs!! Can't stop thinking about it <3
inside the human mind???
duuuude, see you at the 4:20 screening
AWESOME, No sequels! They both sound so awesome, the human mind movie could have so many possibilities to what it's about!
None of these movies better get cancelled!
Whoa... the human mind seems kind of weird. Very ambitious and creative. I'm sure it'll turn out great, but it's the dinosaur one I'm looking forward to. And if it's being directed by Bob Peterson, the theatre audience will probably be made extinct by their own laughter.
Whew! No Toy Story 4! Darn... No Incredibles 2!

This source says that both movies are slated for 2013.
Am I the only one that thinks the second idea sounds kind of like an animated version of "Inception?" That is not a bad thing by any means, though :D
This article has restored that giddy Pixar excitement I had back in the Wall-E/Up days.
Both of these new movie concepts sound great! I've always wanted to see what Bob Peterson could do as a director, and the dinosaur film could be really fun. Pete Docter continues to blow me away, and I'm confident that he and the Pixar crew will make the "human mind" movie as entertaining as it sounds like in concept.
Alexis: It's a mistake.
@ Angry Bird: Nope, you're not the only one: http://www.hollywood.com/news/D23_Pixar_Announces_Two_New_Feature_Projects/7830840
Please stop making sequels and prequels... If there is any film you have that should have a sequel made, it is The Incredibles. Certainly not Cars. The first Cars wasn't even that great to begin with. And PLEASE PLEASE do not make another Toy Story... TS3 ended it so perfectly, don't ruin it with another one. That said...
Brave looks unbelievably gorgeous, very excited for that. The untitled dinosaur movie sounds like it will be really cool too.
I just hope they don't load the dinosaur movie with evolution theory references. Otherwise, both movies sound amazing and inventive--like all Pixar films.
Thanks, Alexandro Fantino. :)
I'm a big Inception fan, so that's the first thing that popped into my mind. There's so many different directions that movie could take though.
What if it's about the brain cells themselves? Who knows...but I think this could be the best Pixar film since Wall-E. That's the impression that I'm getting.
This is awesome. These new ideas have arise my love for Pixar again. The era of WALL-E and Up is coming back. And like what JAY Hosh said, none of them should be canceled because no other studio at this moment is planing to make a film similar to any of these. Now I have mores things to look forward to.
Sigh of relief for highly original upcoming films.... Still trying to purge the taste of Cars 2.
Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 were both great movies (although admittedly the latter is far from Pixar's best). So why is everyone picking on those movies?! It's like they think sequels is a crime worthy of death at Pixar! Well, it's PIXAR! Once again I say, don't diss all attempts at a Pixar sequel just because of one movie.
I'm excited about these movies as you are. But don't make a big production out of the fact that they're original.
Still waiting for The Incredibles 2. C'mon guys. Make what the people want.
At least they're not producing sequels this time around. I am looking forward to "Brave", too! You can always count on Pixar. I just picked up Wall-E on Blu-Ray. Timeless and brilliant and I can't watch it enough.
Like that one Anonymous said, this film will be better if they make as few references to evolutionary science or creation science as possible, and instead focus on the fun of exploring a modern world with dinosaurs in it. Mention the meteor thing (or the global flood thing) in passing at the beginning of the film and don't go back to it.
"The studio's blurb for the film reads: What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth?"
Fun idea - that's what I thought when I came up with it 8 years ago for one of my first animated shorts, recently posted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYpEBpBjJPk
"That explains the boy and pet dinosaur in the concept art we first saw two years ago"
Interesting... two years ago I sent a demo reel to Pixar, including this animation, when applying for a software job.
So your point is what exactly?
Interesting idea:
I wonder if that infamous asteroid will come back later in the dinosaur movie. The orbit somehow returned to Earth or something like that. It could show how humans help prepare the dinosaurs to survive an extinction.
A natural disaster movie starring dinosaurs!
Any other Brits thinking of the Numbskulls for the second film?
@Jack
I've heard many people say that Pixar "stole" their ideas from them. There are so many people in the world, that means that I'm sure many people can come up with a similar idea. Like talking cars with eyes. Why do people always say Pixar stole their ideas anyways?
@Jay
"Like talking cars with eyes"
Or misfit talking ants that save the colony?
Sure, most likely someone came up with the idea independently. Just saying, what a shock to read that a story concept you brought to life in the past is now going to be a Pixar movie.
You can't copyright an idea (same goes for titles) - only the specific execution of said idea is unique and copyrightable.
As a (very non-PIXAR) reference, how do you think we can have Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached? Same general idea - different execution.
Anonymous #1 sheesh your sexist...im a guy and i HATE sports, dinosaurs, cars, etc. So uh.. Im good thats all
@angry bird YES YES YES thats what i was thinkin the whole time! Even if its not thats definetly the one im more excited for!
Jack your short was really neat but i wouldnt count on getting a cent out of pixar. Sorry. And as far as thedono mpvie goes i REALLY hope it has almost none or no evolution hint/jokes etc. This commenter is out PEACE
Pixar is Back it was only a matter of time, the Docter one sounds great, I can's wait, and equally excited for the furture short films.
A Pixar dinosaur movie sounds great, as long as it isn't like Barney. Also'd like an Incredibles sequel.
I want a new incredible's. And TS4 will be coming at some point per Tom Hanks. Pixar has so much talent anything they do makes money. I think that's why they space things out the way they do. new tech, new this new that - they seem to stay current. Not to rush things. If they know something is ready to release they seem to wait or are the reason they create something new to where the others have to play catch-up!!
