Jon Cryer cast in 'Planes'

Actor Jon Cryer was just announced at D23 as the voice of main character Dusty in DisneyToon Studios' Cars spinoff, Planes.

(Though drawn from Pixar's franchise and produced under the direction of creative chief John Lasseter, Planes is not a Pixar film and will not be branded as Disney•Pixar.)

Cryer, best known for his role on CBS' Two and a Half Men, joins Everybody Loves Raymond alum Brad Garrett in lending his voice to the film.

Planes takes off on Blu-ray and DVD Spring 2013.

Shouldn't this appear on the Disney Blog? Some Pixar fans (including me) are somewhat fed up with 'The World of Cars' and everything related to it. And since 'Planes' is clearly not Pixar, I don't think many of us even care about it...

Speak for yourself, Alexandro. SOME Pixar fans do like Cars. While Planes isn't the most exciting idea ever, it's still drawn from Pixar and is under the care of Lasseter. And as a major spinoff from a Pixar franchise, how is it not worth following its progress with short entries from time to time? I'm not chomping at the bit to see it, but I think news about it has its place here.

I agree Jared, but SOME OTHERS don't, I was just giving my own personal opinion on the subject, and was hoping to speak for others as well, since I'm not the only one.

But if Mike wants to post these news here, well, it's his blog. He can post whatever he wants to, it was just a suggestion.

I agree with anon. and Jared, it's OKAY to hate the Cars franchise but we must remember that some people DO actually like Cars. In fact, I believe a lot of people like it, just not this particular group of people. Remember, everybody thinks differently. Besides, it's Pixar. This is the PIXAR blog. I'm sure if Mike gets news on anything Pixar he will not ignore something if it is about Cars or Planes.

Jay hosh, you and I are on the same page. I was saying that Mike should post about it for the fans that do care, myself included.
