Watch the Second Trailer for The Pirates! Band of Misfits
The second domestic trailer for Aardman Animations' The Pirates! Band of Misfits (known in the U.K. as The Pirates!—In an Adventure with Scientists) debuted this afternoon on Yahoo! Movies. Watch—
I can't say I'm a fan of Aardman's style, but The Pirates! is one of the animated films on my radar for 2012. (It opens March 30 in North America.)
By the way, you can follow director Peter Lord on Twitter, @PeteLordAardman.
Not a fan? I do say sir, you're sullying one of the great animation studios and I take great offence!
Nah but really? Very rare I hear anyone rag on Aardman's work, ignore what they did during the brief DW partnership, that's barely attributable as theirs.
@David: I want that to matter but I really don't care if it is "for kids", looks like an enjoyable romp and I think the people behind it should be able to keep the ship at a even keel…
Ship puns… heh. But yeah, don't write it off because the trailer doesn't tick the super drama boxes for you.
I like Aardman's other stuff quite a bit. Wallace & Grommit specifically. This didn't look all that interesting though. A bit too much frantic humor, and the main pirate's voice sounds phoned-in.
I've always like Aardman's brand of "Dreamworks humor" (pop culture references). They make it work, in an Emperor's New Groove-like way, and not in a Shark Tale-like one.

I find this looks terrible.

Looking forward to this one! I love Aardman!

I wanted to see it, but the video is no longer available!
