Final numbers have been tallied and, as expected, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted took the top spot at the North American box office this weekend, grossing a respectable $60,316,738.
Combined with the DreamWorks film's foreign earnings of $75.5 million, Alex, Marty, Melman, and friends have sold tickets to the tune of $135,816,738, according to Box Office Mojo.
Buoyed by a mostly positive response from critics (it's holding at 76% on the Tomatometer), I wouldn't be surprised to see it do well up until Pixar unseats it with Brave on June 22.

I'm sure Brave will be amazing.
So far Brave has 64% early on Rotten Tomatoes... that's not a good sign.
I've learned not to trust the critics after they trashed Cars 2 last year, but this kinda just goes to prove what I've been worrying about all along, ever since I first saw the announcement back when it was called The Bear and the Bow four years ago: *this* is Pixar's first flop, not Cars 2.
For all those, like Darrell, who are afraid of whether or not Brave will suck or not, fear not! After watching it, I find it to be one of my Favourite Animated Movies of all Time! I saw a advance screening on Thurs. and it was great! I had some doubts too, but I have since learned to trust Pixar at all Times. Madagascar 3, in my opinion, was much better, but Brave is kinda good too. 10/10 for both Movies. Bring on Ice Age 4!
