Teaser Poster for DreamWorks' Me and My Shadow

DreamWorks Animation has unveiled the first teaser poster for Me and My Shadow, coming to theatres March 14, 2014 from director Alessandro Carloni, head of story on How to Train Your Dragon.

Featuring the voices of Bill Hader, Josh Gad, and Kate Hudson, the movie will explore the world of shadows through the story of one in particular—Shadow Stan, who happens to be 'stuck to the world's most boring human', Stanley Grubb.

IMDb adds the following in its unofficial synopsis:
"When a crime in the shadow world puts both of their lives in danger, Stan is forced to take control of Stanley. They go on a madcap adventure to investigate the crime and stop the shadow villain from leading a rebellion where shadows take over the human world. During this adventure, Stan empowers Stanley to let go of his fears and embrace life. Through their adventure, they both learn that one cannot be whole without a true friend."
Me And My Shadow combines CG and traditional hand drawn characters—a growing trend, it seems. The shadows will all be traditionally animated. As quoted on Facebook, DreamWorks creative chief Bill Damaschke says that it "felt creatively interesting"

What do you think? Personally, this could be either the studio's best yet or a total disaster.

I'm not a Dreamworks fan, but far from a hater. I've enjoyed quite a few of their films. I'm gonna' be hopefully optimistic about this one. I really think this will turn out to be one of their better ones, like Panda or Dragon.

Plus, I love Bill Hader, so I'm excited that he's in it!

I love the poster; Not sold on the plot, but it could be good, if it was done right.

Well, that's a nice poster. As for the synopsis, it feels a bit silly, but it could work. Besides, the traditional animation part sounds very attractive. It looks like I'll be following this one.

That actually sounds really good, I'm excited.

I expect it will be good, DW knows how to work things their way so I expect whilst it sounds like a pretty Pixarian sort of concept, I feel they can make their mark without going too… um, Dreamworks with it.

Happy about them finally thinking outside of the box. Don't want to be "that guy" but hey, they seem to be picking up some Pixar hints on story's importance. Talking animals in silly situations can only go so far.

It sounds like a very interesting idea. I'm waiting for its trailer.

To Be Perfectly Honest, This Sounds Like One Of Those Fake Movie Titles You Sometimes See On The Simpsons. It Can Only Get Worse From There.

Good News: DreamWorks Just Bought Classic Media! DreamWorks Now Own "Rocky & Bullwinkle" and "Casper The Friendly Ghost", And "VeggieTales" (Among Others)! Since Classic Media Treats Their Library Like Dirt (Extremely Bad DVD Collections, Whatever Isn't On DVD They Don't Use At All), DreamWorks Might Just Be A Great Home For Those Cartoons, As They Could Actually Treat Them Right (Warner Bros. Quality Restorations On DVD and The Cartoons To Return On TV)! Whose With Me?

Hadn't even heard of this - however it doesn't look very Dreamworks, which must be a good thing :D

I love the concept! I'm most interested to see what the shadow world looks like. I don't like the "smug" Dreamworks films, but How to Train Your Dragon is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I'm with Anonymous in hoping this is another storytelling winner for them.

Heh heh heh. Oh Dreamworks, always playing it safe by pandering to mass consensus. Notice how they only start using hand-drawn animation now....

Does anybody know what anon@July 24th 1:58 AM means by "don't want to be "that guy"?

I'm calling it now: the first teaser trailer features a comedic, slapstick-heavy sketch set to "Me & My Shadow" by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis jr. It can be only this.
