Kung Fu Panda 3 to be Co-Produced in China

In addition to its stated goal of making films for the Chinese market, DreamWorks Animation's Chinese joint venture, Oriental DreamWorks, will co-produce Kung Fu Panda 3 for release worldwide in 2016, the studio said today.

The announcement came as part of the revealing of plans for ODW's $3.1 billion cultural and entertainment district in Shanghai, called the Dream Center, which will accommodate ODW's animation facilities.

You did already report on this right? This is just making it official, isn't it?

Sorry that this is kind of off topic, but did you know that A Monster in Paris is finally being released on DVD next Tuesday from Alliance?

I'm really looking forward to finally getting to see this one - will you be posting a review, Mike? ;)

KFP3 - you're kidding right? KFP2 was so bad I walked out of the theater during the first act.

Nini: It's actually been official since February. What caught my attention about today's announcement was the mention of KFP3 being DWA's first co-production with ODW.

Anonymous #1: Thanks for the tip. I never did a proper review of the movie because when I saw it, this was still The Pixar Blog. However, I'll post on the DVD release soon.

I thought Kung Fu Panda 2 was overrated. It was okay but its not like "OMG This is BEST PICTURE!." I also thought the first one was better. I feel that other characters besides Po were underdeveloped. The 3 new master were not necessary. I also feel that while I can definitely understand the concept of "inner peace" and how it would lead you to victory, I keep thinking that early on in the film if Po had not seen the symbol or just overcame his reaction immediately, the film would have been over in the first 20 minutes. With that said however I am looking forward to a third Kung Fu Panda.

'Bout time. Kung Fu Panda 2 was actually pretty good, and I'm excited to see where they go with the next one.
