I think it's highly likely that if Paramount decides to have a follow up to Ghost Protocol, Brad Bird won't be directing it since Tom Cruise has stated in the past how he likes that each installment is directed by a different director bringing their own sense of style to the franchise. Having Brad Bird direct the follow up would end this trend and since Tom Cruise is one of the producers

I know Brad Bird is working on 1906 after Mission Impossible 4, so he won't be back in animation for a while yet. However, he seems very passionate about animation, so I don't see him giving it up forever.

Incredibles 2 could be helmed by Mark Andrews once he finishes Brave; his style of film making is very close to Bird's.

So I'm guessing 1906 is gonna happen for sure....

This is the question I've been asking myself lately. The question for me goes not only to Brad Bird, but to Andrew Stanton as well, since he's doing 'John Carter'. I surely hope either of them don't completely abandon animation, and stick with Pixar.

I think if he does (which he probably will). I'd say create your own animation studio.) If he starts making these big budget films over and over again he can create his own studio he runs. thats the BOSS way to do things. Instead of adding to Pixar's legacy go and create your own. But not everyone has the time to run a full studio
